the motion of sand and water

Post by panta rhei » July 17th, 2008, 9:03 am

forever we are wandering
as seasons pass
and years

and dunes blow into beaches
and strands surge and wander
and sands drift back to sea

and we are walking forever
onwards with the current of time
pushed forward by the stream of sand

and while the sands are blowing
the waves are breaking
rolling towards us

and we wander on
between sand and sea
betwixt drift and tide

along with the racing sands and
in the face of undulating waters

we move on
with the motion of sand and water
as we walk towards the future
of our own footprints

as we listen
to the sands that blow away from us
and the waves that roll towards us

and to our visions
that sing with the wind

sand and sea as the performers; time and wind as the director. thanks, doreen!
(p.s. if the camerawoman had known she would get the idea of making a video out of these clips, she would have held the camera a little more steady, though!)

lines of footsteps
towards skies changing
with wind and vision

drifting sands
shifting horizons

focus shivers
as journey sings

ah, judih! thank you
i seem to find cross-fadings everyhwere these days...

yes, dave, almost like snow... yet a lot harsher. you don't need a body peeling anymore after you've walked against this kind of sand drift for a few minutes - your shins get sandblasted all over!

a haunting place this island of baltrum
emphasized by Zora's clarinet
painting the lonely atmosphere

if i wasn't feeling so reserved today, i would say "whadda trip!!"

i enjoyed, thanks to you and your talented family!

as green skies turn to pink
and white sands to purple
i fall hopelessly in love
with zora's clarinet
still visiting my ear

I couldn't get the vid to come thru - but do I need to see it? Do I need to hear the music? not yes. I think I already have. The old gentleman on the tractor next door is my vision as he turns the earth & plows the sea. Thank you ,panta r. - for your gift was unintended (best kind) trying to load your vid unsuccessfully afforded me enough frustration to look out my window and see my neighbor just coming over the hill on his tractor just like he does everyday...I'm so used to it I have stopped noticing it...but today I was made to notice it as if for the first time and there he was coming over the hill and plowing the sea - there was music...there were islands...there was the wind...and a man in a white t-shirt, jeans, and red ballcap riding a grey tractor past the end of the world...
Doll, you may have found a place of rest but I'm still on the trail.

a reserve of trips
in the back of the mind
in the hinterland of life
and dreams:
savings
of motion

...cecil - thanks a lot, friend!

---------------

colours change as visions shift
sounds whisper, rise and fall
sands travel, flow
blow away the track
from land to sea and back
as waves roll and we see and fall
into love, life, and drift

... thank you, smilegirl!

---------------

dave:

at the beach of time
every grain of sand
is the presnet moment
inhering the chance
of becoming a pearl...

--------------

a tractor plows the sea
slowly, it tills the waters

a gentleman steers
navigates the crests

cuts a line of foam
through the waves
as he rides
coming over the hill of
every wavepeak

a red cap
among white ones

... mingo, as judih says: cool!
sometimes, it just takes a little to make horzions shift...

(yet just in case you want to give the vid another try:
