basho wanderings
onto some other translations

i'm reading the book in bits and pieces because we are moving from here to there. i'm enjoying the form Basho put it in. It's similar to what we do right here with the Lingo - it's just much more connected and has a point or a thread with a destination - and the scattering in of haiku and other poetry in line with that destination - good stuff.

rough move time
sounds crazy....ugh

ain't that some truth - am cancelling any move today - it's 3 degrees below nothing out there and -25 degrees wind chill - igloo country - ink in the pen freezes in moments - haiku shaped like ice cubes

a do nothing day
reading issa haiku and haibun
what a life
not as classy as basho
but loved by the children
to this very day
basho's words like:

an endless wave
a powerful locomotive
or a gentle caterpillar
stay inside do nothing day

might be a couple of weeks before i see another do-nothing day - i am whipped

the cold set in

henry miller book tonight
i went and saw her when she
was promoting it in '93

hard to believe thats
over 20 years ago
i remember someone asked
if henry and jack kerouac ever got
together or met?
she didnt know, ooh but i did
and i spoke up telling the audience
the story of how jack was supposed to meet henry
in big sur via ferlinghetti but instead he got drunk
in san fran and it got later and later till
it didnt happen, ya know thats when i came
outta my shell, next thing ya know i was
reading my stuff in public and the rest is history.....

....the stonehouse book has one of the best introductions ive ever read... ......these chinese and japanese poets never cease to amaze me,its a continual education.....an education in simplicity and beyond that....id call it wonder....

i'm with ya on that - sorry i didn't comment on how ya began reading in public - just been too rushed - always thought erica jong a handsome woman - ya got to see her in person ? ... well, hell yeah Mongolia !

just finished another cross county run in a damn blizzard ... jeep full of boxes roads full of blowing snow - inside now and where I'm gonna stay until tomorrow
