Piled into the Jeep yesterday & took off. Back roads & trails all day long. We found a gorge with rim trails - serendipity. Took a short walk in. Got to go back cuz it was gettin' dark. The trees were thick & the river far enough below us that you could hear it but not see it.

Saw old barns falling down. Saw the young queen of Babylon exiting a convenience store in the valley of the bees. Heard dark water full of stories coming down out of the mountains. Saw crows mopping up around the body of a raccoon. Saw a wedding party all in Jeeps and one mini cooper coming down the main street of a village with their horns blaring in celebration.

I love my Jeep. I've seen the most amazing things from her decks.

It's raining. Rained all night. Been raining all day. Time of year for it. The leaves are turning fast ...

Daddy had a Willis jeep and those excursions through the back roads and off roads are some of the best memories.

He could take the top off and lay the windshield down on the hood. (That is where our dog Draggin' would lay, her nails clinging to metal and glass as we bumped along.) Nothing was an obstacle, no ravine, no rock, no thing. I was scared a lot but thrilled mostly, hanging on for that dear life.

Thanks for taking me along for the ride Mingo (and Dad.) I loved it.

You're welcome sooZ. My father had an old jeep too. One day it rescued him from a heart attack. Don't have time to say it right now. Maybe after work tonight or tomorrow morning I'll post it for ya.
Thanks to you too.

there are days of
sunlight & open windows

there are days of rain
when even the door
is closed against the damp

6:25 a.m. 45 degrees -

Everybody's popping. POP! POP! Autumn does that to folks. Gets 'em popping. Thanks on the Thanks, Dame. I got a wild little paint program here on the 'puter loaded to the nines with buttons & abilities. I take it off the wall every so often and go off hunting. Sometimes I can't deal in words but I've never not been able to deal with paint & images. And sometimes ya just have to MAKE something or die. POP!

Grey skies & brisk wind here for the last two days. Sliced my finger last night at work. It was a sequence of small events that led to that. A sequence - but ya don't know at the time that you are following a sequence until it's all over with. Only then does it come to ya. So last night I was following a sequence that I didn't know I was following that led to me standing at the edge of a parking lot with blood dripping out the end of my finger. I said Fuck! in surprise. Inspecting the damage a line from the Bible came to me, "indeed, without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness for sins." You can wonder 'bout it all until exasperation sets in. Some folks try but a sequence is useless for revealing the future.

Activity here at the Studio. POP! Jack's got a new name for his blog. the Dame's moved into her new digs. Mouse pokes her head out from the walls for a look around. Doreen's in motion. Barry's decided to go the artlog road. The wind is in everybody's lungs. POP! POP!

Hunter gatherers. We are still that. I went to sea as a young man just to find that history is nothing more than the tale of mankind's sad & rapid descent into civilization. My nose is in the wind. The hunt is on & I applaud everybody. POP!

Had a whole thing here ready to print. I just blew it out the back beyond by moving too fast while taking my eye off the ever-loving ball. God bless it. It had subcutaneous fat, women, fathers, daughters, iced cinnamon rolls, & eternity in it. All the good stuff. Irretrievable. Inevitable. FUBARED TO THE NTH DEGREE ! Well, this is my cup & from it I must drink. DamnDamnDamn!

It was losing the notions on subcutaneous fat that really bugs me.

The iced cinnamon roll item ended in eternity.

Can't remember it all. Image

Thanx, judih. I think I'm over it. But it's a good thing I have to get into work now. Saves me from sitting around stewing away. Ain't that hilarious ?
