Dear Bill,
I raise my glass ( pure American bourbon, ) The Lord has never let any of those who are His fall out of His hands.

Doll, you may have found a place of rest but I'm still on the trail.
Re: Zuihitsu
Today was a Good Day.
Beautiful weather - sunny, cool (but not too), just breezy enough to keep the black flies at bay...
Found my Swiss army knife! It had slid out of my pocket and was hiding behind the cushion of my easy chair. Ours was an emotional reunion...
Downloaded the latest version of QB64, the 64-bit version of QBasic. Prior versions had portability issues - the executables required a freight train of DLLs, either dispersed throughout the SYSTEM32 folder or segregated into one of their own. Either way, writing code to run on another computer required an enormous overhead of support files. The current version creates static executables - all DLLs embedded within the binary code, so the EXE file can run Anywhere! Spent a happy couple of hours this afternoon wanking with this newest release.
Dog rolled in something vile on our return trip to the car - and just before returning to the trailhead, veered off for a dip in Scott Brook, obviating the need for a trip to the lake. He now smells like a wet dog, which is a huge improvement over his pre-bath bouquet....
A fine day indeed!

The dog I have now likes to roll in things - only once so far has it been nasty -

Fortunately, Kane's coloration renders the skid marks easily visible, allowing for precision washcloth targeting. Unlike his predecessor, whose dark fur was great camouflage for all kinds of skanky adornment.........

That ought to be the title of something... all kinds of skanky adornment

Re: Zuihitsu
Sorry, judih, I ain't been down here in awhile - summer is finally here, yesterday I saw a new leaf fallen to the road. I circled the bike back around got off and just stood there looking at that leaf, drank some water, looked around me, everything so newly green - but then there was that single leaf in the road - the future is never as far off as we like to think - I remounted my bike, circled the leaf and I was gone -

Re: Zuihitsu
each moment tastes of non-now (some past, hints of future). there to appreciate it, words to mark it, bike tire tracks prove you were there
Re: Zuihitsu
bike tire tracks as proof of a passing existence - works for me - thx. judih

Re: Zuihitsu
hiked for 2 hours forty minutes
looped a section of the river with barely a break
i was energized without an explanation
the rain had kept the potential travelers away
did not see a single human being and it was all so lush
the greenest green I can remember and the vegetation
was reaching out to encroach upon the hiker or biker
more evidence than humans have not been here for awhile
I have this love affair with the gunpowder river. it's a long
stretch of meandering water winding it's way bend after bend
I want to cover the trails on both sides it's entire length ...
I'm only a third of the way, which means I can't die for awhile

you may end up where you are heading

Re: Zuihitsu
Right on, Steve.
Mine is with the Millers River in north central MA - runs through the Birch Hill Wildlife Management Area, the Lake Dennison Recreation Area, and Otter River State Forest. I've already covered all the trails (I think), but they never get old to me. Never. (42.654861,-72.096620)

Re: Zuihitsu
Back in the heyday of my employment, back when I actually had a career, I'd become immersed in projects for weeks, months at a time - designing experiments, designing (sometimes building) apparatus to perform them, running the experiments (always said you had to do the experiment twice - once to learn how to do it, again to collect meaningful data...), analyzing the results (which sometimes sent you back to step 1), and, finally, writing it all up in a massive report. Publication day was like the first day of a holiday - I'd be so spent by then that the next few days would see me counting my paper clips and squaring up all the piles of paper on my desk. A lot of coffee and bullshitting would go down then, too, until the next shiny object that piqued my interest came along, and off I'd go again.
Since late February, I've been designing, writing, and debugging a software package to help a former colleague develop a kind of bingo game he's marketing to ale houses, and a few days ago I finally shipped the product. At last, I can return to my own projects! I have at least two short stories in mind, and a longer one that's been lying fallow for nearly a year. I want to create a few more YouTube videos - one with my water series, one or two urban exploration slideshows, maybe one or two on orbital mechanics. I'd like to start creating musique concrete, maybe even to score my UE vids. I want to build a rack to hold my DVD collection, and install a new sound card so I can resume ripping my LPs. I also want to buy a car, have my house painted, and I really should do something about the dust and dog hair that have been accumulating.
But not today. I've drained the weil, and it takes a couple days for it to refill. I think I'll go sit in the sun with a notebook, and calculate a few integrals....

Re: Zuihitsu
Bella, my sister's little dog unit, licks toes, legs. She believes herself to be Godzilla when faced with huge dog-variations.
She also declines to proceed when out on a stroll.
Spoiled bizarre tail thing.

Re: Zuihitsu
Mine waits for me to step out of the shower so he can lick the water from my arms & legs. His predecessor did that too - must be a lab thing. And when we're out on a leashed stroll, he's either pulling like a sled dog, or dawdling in the bushes, making me mosquito bait.
