"all my friends are not dead or in jail
and the black wind moans sweet revenge" have to google that john prine song no idea at this point what that has to do with this thread, maybe it will come to me later if I just keep tippy typing these keys
got to stay cool on your stool
homeboy —I used to pray the good lord would take me before him, now we both so old I don't know anymore.
he has had a couple heart attacks now, he is also a physician so he knows exactly what is happening, the other day he said his heart stopped beating and then it started again but he blacked out for a couple seconds. He did not do the surgery thing, he figured the odds were not worth it in the long run and it has been twenty years since his first one I think. He walks miles a day and bikes to stay in shape. Boy I don't think I am living long like this.
been a long time since my last funeral
human funeral, I know dogs don't count as much but still it hurts just the same sometimes
German is such an interesting language for me. two words for eating one for humans one for all other animals. essen and fressen? maybe that is Yiddish not German.
summer time and the living is easy
peaches and plums
Chiquita banana
I need more fiber

Re: Bandit Notions
Language cannot find itself when it turns to look back at it's beginnings.
It is thought that the first true alphabetic writing appeared around 2000 BC, as a representation of language developed for Semitic slaves in Egypt by Egyptians. - I've lifted this bit of information out of context because it is lumped under the rubric of "knowledge".
I have to ask myself, since knowledge is power, why the ruling class of Egypt would want to create knowledgeable slaves instead of just content & quiet ones?
A stab in the dark here - seems to me. Like most of what passes for, or is called, knowledge.
I have tried to acquaint myself with what is known not only about writing but about its parent, language, the living spoken word. I don't know why except that it seems important to know whatever truth can be known about not only how but why we wish to communicate with our fellow beings while we are here. Especially since that communication can become extremely violent physically, mentally & emotionally. Language can bring peace or it can bring war. That's a lot of responsibility & power for something we realize little about.
All I have discovered going over what is said about it is that the truth as it stands at this moment, after separating the ridiculous from the merely seductive, is that language cannot find itself when it turns to look back at it's beginnings. The Bible, seeking as always, to make the case clear, says simply, "In the beginning was the Word & the Word was with God & the Word was God."
Something tells me that beyond this lie only dark and deep waters, the abode of unimaginable monsters & Dutch sailors with wings.

Re: Bandit Notions
What an enemy we have in . . .language
Johns Hopkins U, baltimore, night school a course in classical Greek literature. Even though it was just a night school class the the instructors were world class. Professors from the day school teaching courses at night. The best prof. I ever had, loved that guy, Dr McCall, he loved to teach and he loved his subject.
And he would say in mock anguish when he was trying to give us the meaning of a English translation of a Greek poet, he would say "What fucking enemy we have in Greek" well not exactly but that is how it sounded to me.
How do I know my Bible tells me so.
What would we do with out the Catholic Church. All our really good horror movies seem to have priests in them.

How we got the Bible, Alan Watts on youtube.
interesting video.
I like him a lot but I take him with a grain of salt, he talks about Christian platitudes.
But you know Buddhism has its platitudes too.

Re: Bandit Notions
... people complain about the VYPR or Viper as it was once called - they say it's a wimp - 'course these folks are all coming off of 5 volt or 6 volt units with bells & whistles and scads of onboard battle droids and making a comparison to that ... what the hell? ... the VYPR is a straight 3.7 volt device so ya gotta remember that - if ya wanna get the best performance you can out of it first thing you have to do is get that regular 14500 batt out of there and replace it with an IMR 14500 High Drain batt - next take the regular resistance atomizer or cartomizer off of it and slap a low resistance replacement on there - say a 1.5 ohm 510 or a 306 at 1.5 ohm - should do the trick - now add a couple drops of your favorite juice - you should be getting better vapor & richer flavor ... and if you're still not satisfied up the nicotine content of your juice for a better throat hit ... gauge the unit on it's own merits ... it's a sweet little device but it's not a powerhouse and ya can't take a hard short pull on it and expect heaven, no, take a longer slower drag, sit back and ... relax for God's sake.

Re: Bandit Notions
Two consequitive dreams I can't remember how they transitioned from one to the other.
In The first dream was the only woman in this world for me. Who I have not seen in 50 years so I am not sure is she is still in this world or not. There was another woman in the dream. She was sitting on my lap but I did not want to kiss her because all my teeth are rotten.
The last dream I Woke up from was a dream about the beaches at Gallipoli, I guess cause I fell asleep listening to a show about World War 1.
Somehow I woke up thinking I knew how to conquer death.
Do you Remember a movie called On The Beach. Vote Romney, bring it on I say.

Re: Bandit Notions
A strange thing happened to me in my dream. I was rapt into the Seventh Heaven. There sat all the gods assembled. As a special dispensation I was granted the favor to have one wish. "Do you wish for youth," said Mercury, "or for beauty, or power, or a long life; or do you wish for the most beautiful woman, or any other of the many fine things we have in our treasure trove? Choose, but only one thing!" For a moment I was at a loss. Then I addressed the gods in this wise: "Most honorable contemporaries, I choose one thing—that I may always have the laughs on MY side." Not one god made answer, but all began to laugh. From this I concluded that my wish had been granted and thought that the gods knew how to express themselves with good taste: for it would surely have been inappropriate to answer gravely: your wish has been granted.

Re: Bandit Notions
two women and one of those in your lap - I read your whole post with the song "Cisco Kid" by War going constantly through my head - the woman of the lodge is going through a cookbook of Amish recipes and she's not happy with the hound because he shit in the living room this morning so he's in the pooch pit until she decides he's lovable again - nothing I can do about it - Ava Gardner can sit in my car and we will watch Greg Peck sail off on his sub and then I will drive Ava on down the road, ya know? I been to sea but no more - let somebody else do all that sailin' shit - I'm stayin' right here in the hills with all the wimmin's - ha! - no death-head automobiles for me - today is a day for being warm & cozy - Cisco Kid was a friend of mine he drank whiskey Pancho drink the wine ...

'Even if you don't like me, will you hold on to me a moment longer...'
I liked that, liked it very much. It's the love the one you're with.
`Do you know, I was so angry, Kitty,' Alice went on...`when I saw all the mischief you had been doing, I was very nearly opening the window, and putting you out into the snow! And you'd have deserved it, you
