.

my thoughts fallow like reflection. shallow clouds goose march steppe me to the dance of singular crowds;

each celebrating profusion blossoming in watercolour stains limp-elbowing on a tiger crawl triggering sprawl.
so. mote.
each your engorged rote of left over organic rights all knotted in sugar mountains glass; so. when gulls shriek
salt through sand - punch consciousness one more time

I'm just not in the mood. For nouns or verbs or any of that other shit. If you're going to opt for the futile you might as well go the nine yards and reach for total futility. Don't waste a single moment fucking around.

Must be time for a new bike.

Are the odd adjectives even acceptable?

Life is not a problem to be solved, but a mystery to be lived.

I'd rather buy a round than fuck around.

violence paradox.JPG
127 million words
where can I find a man who forgets about all of them so that I can have a word with him

America fucks around with war
In Alabama, we all love the president
praise the lord and pass the ammunition
these are our good old days
back before the war

all I want is peace
Is violence actually declining? If so, why? And can we build a more peaceful future?

War deaths have increased dramatically in the modern era, new research contends, despite other statistics that suggest the risks of becoming a victim of violence have lessened

don't mean nothing ten am and I am washed brushed feed and smoked
life is good again
been riding again for the first time in months
I have been trapped under the bell jar
all I could do was wait it out
cause I knew it would pass if I kept on keeping on

Synchronicity! Both of these came up in conversation at lunch today. War hasn't really gotten less brutal, only more efficient.

been weeks on low
So now I am high

a bell jar has lifted
I am grateful for the lows too

if not for the poetry on studio eight

My number came up for the southeast asian war gages circa 1963
a time when I could not get to sleep without imagining a loaded shotgun under my chin and my finger on the imaginary trigger.
So during my selective service physical, they asked me and I told them what my suicidal thoughts were, they declared me 4F mentally unfit for military service.
I felt guilty as hell about that for years until I trucked with a WW2 vet who had been blown off an aircraft carrier (USS Yorktown)

for synchronicity
good road is found among open babies
who nod in the mist and imitate serious brain
since the nerves in themselves are thoughtless -
I mean how many folks suffer increase
and are successful in holding just one thread of wandering cloth?
Or is that our dream?
Translating a sweep of sassy or becoming a hydrant of shame
will mark how the gunlight will shine around us and our casinos.
the traffic laws are vast, interwoven, receptive, with no regard for triumph
and what graveyard was ever jolly or awake fresh for cash?

Of course, earthquakes are impolite
the forest burns without care
old photographs resurrect the crossings in our lives drawn by a barely unique pencil
or we could ask the dogs to ink us in by pen.

Sometimes our cousins sleep with us
they wake screaming in the night
victims of their own dreams
while we sleep on unawares
and when we are told in the morning
what happened right next to us
we at first do not believe it

7:52 am - You'd never know that I shoveled 6" of snow off the front steps last night just before bed. It all grew back overnight. Dave came sometime during the wee hours - I didn't wake up when he did, nor, apparently, did the dog. Or else I slept through his barking, too. The dog's, not Dave's. Dave made the most cursory pass up my driveway, but I know his MO by now. Better to break up the job into two small bites than one big one. I trust he'll show up later to finish.

The dog doesn't seem as eager to vanish into the woods now that there's a foot or more of snow on the ground. He's content to let me leash him up and walk along the road. But I can't induce him to cross the stone wall to his favorite shitting spots. I suppose when the need arises, he'll respond appropriately.

Lam Duan has already cleared her driveway, but Adam & Kelly are still snowed in. Bruce is snowblowing when we pass. Halfway down the hill, I slip on a patch of fresh hardpack, and bang my knee hard on the ground. I limp along for a few hundred more feet, hoping the dog will avail himself of the privacy the stone wall provides, but he's apparently still excited by the novelty of snow cover. We turn back & return to the cabin for breakfast and the sacramental pot of COFFEE.

9:58 am - heading outside. Most everyone else has already dug themselves out, so I'll be able to work undisturbed. First order of business is to excavate the car - mostly for the psychological comfort of knowing I can evac if necessary. Dave hasn't left much for me to remove in front, but there's plenty along the sides and on the car itself. The feathered blades stick up out of the snow like lonely fence posts on a prairie.

Once I've got the windshield cleared enough to see through, I drive forward a few feet to brush off the rest. Let Dave plow it aside when he returns.

The highway department has taken mercy on me, and veered their plow close to my mailbox to minimize the windrow, so there isn't a great deal to remove there, either. I take my time - chop up the chunks, then carefully transport them shovelful by shovelful across the road. I'm nearly done when Bruce drives by, probably to pick up Kate. He waves, I wave back & give him a thumbs-up to indicate "Almost finished!", then wrap up the job. I stop to admire the crisp right angles I've left in the snowbank, scrape up a few inconsequential scraps that offend me, and clump back up to the house. I find a choice stick peeking out from one of Dave's snowbanks, and pull it out. Perhaps the dog will enjoy teasing me with it.

11:06 am - Done. The dog indeed takes to his new stick, and taunts me with it before lying down and breaking it into kindling. I'd broken a sweat during my labor, and now that the labor is done, I'm cooling down rapidly. Time to head back inside where Zuihitsu and the Sunday crossword await my attention.

such a snowtale.
slipping and finding sticks and neighbourly warmth.
i ponder my morning trip to university. The train system is doing repair work just at the stations most used. Therefore, there will be shuttle buses and cursing. Lots of bag checking at each point. (either by scan or by a guard's hand). A new adventure awaits and meanwhile, i read zuihitsu.
