A reader raises her fingers over the open book before her, ready to turn the page. An untouched glass of milk sits just to her left, within easy reach.

There was this woman who had this flower growing out of her back - I don't think she knew it was there. She would dance around, her breasts bouncing to her body movements or when she walked. She wore her femininity like a mask but the flower gave her away.

I never knew a pyramid that could laugh. That's why I could be superior when I was around them. Any kind of pyramid, don't matter.

I kill flies with Buddha nature & a flyswatter & music. I never miss because of the music. I'm writing this on a napkin.

I love how different sets of ripples can pass through each other without distortion or trace and go on as if nothing incredible
had happened at all.

People at the top of a tower - everything below them - up against a wall ? cover your ears & smile -

All the game pieces toppled over - except one king

Pile of books, eyeglasses on the top - more towers

A woman turns her back to what had been, faces the distance
& bows her head deeply, gravity will eventually win anyway but why hasten? - the shadow of a bird flies over the people walking below

Books scattered on glass seen from beneath, stories of men sitting in windows in abandoned & condemned buildings - the rooms of the guilty filled with lonely

Bride & groom, the wedding couple, all smiles - a sudden rain begins - exploding against hard tile -

Quiet on my walk this morning. Very quiet except for the crickets in the dying grass. Their singing has reached a constant as if they knew the end for them was near.

It began to rain on my way back. A slight wind then rose adding to the symphony - before dawn today I took my drum, stepped out on the porch facing the river and began to beat out rhythm to the rhythm of my heart for the Indians and all those with them out there on the Standing Rock Rez - they have won a battle for themselves and all the rest of us - I beat that drum until my neighbor just downriver shouted at me, "WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING ?" I looked at him, smiled, and shouted back, "IT'S A GOOD DAY TO LIVE !"

I beat that drum for several more minutes, then, my prayers concluded, I let the drum go silent and the quiet got very loud.

Best time to drum right there, when the spirit is low & the heart uncertain

mist coming off the river
sun rising
into clear sky

Henry Miller tells me about his Paris days, The Son of David speaks of his time in Galilee - I'm dealing with another flat tire, brand new tube and the tire is flat again, only rode it once and thank God it didn't go flat out on the road ten miles from the house - digging out the patch kit - again - sometimes, in all things, the romance wears thin -

Railroad tracks pass into the distance where there are bridges & old black men wearing knit wool caps & ships at sea & smiling girls & fallen leaves & raindrops & women with bowed heads & fenceposts against clouds ...

Stone beach by a lake in the mountains - my dreams are white lions at midnight -

The blood of the fly on my doodle - The humble warm is fish, the fly is on his back, history ok but anti-luminous, sell it to me for 5 bucks and I will take it off your porch - take a thing out of one place, put it in another place -

There is no milk in the house, means I will have to go the store later, by bike - better than half the world gets their necessaries, on a daily basis, by bike -

Spider webs shining in the sunlight, those built in the grass hold the night's dew and glitter like a bag full of diamonds when the sun lights them up -

Going to go gathering ...

The decomposition of a human begins approximately 4 minutes after death.

Blowflies (calliphoridae) will be attracted to a corpse within minutes.

... and that's that.

The last summer moon full in the sky - the things that are gone, following the brush - playing online chess after midnight - folks think there is nothing in the ordinary but the ordinary is all - to quote Heat Moon, "the man who misses the journey misses about all he's going to get." - I'm a Christmas present to myself, don't need no ruby slippers -

I wake from a night
of no dreams
to a dream that goes on
all day long

A woman said to me yesterday, "You're getting scary in your old age, do ya know that ?" - but I feel more like a child than ever - Ryokan was right, have all the fun you can.
