I am tripping more than you are. Battling razzberries

The confessions. It's all in my head. It's all in my head.

What it is that I try to find
out there on the wet pavement,
the dark roadway

If it's raining
or fog

is everything you're saying to me.

I don't want to miss an opportunity like messages.

So I put on a coat
and in winter I put on boots, gloves,
even if my mouth is frozen from the freezing

I can still pick it up to put in my pocket
for when my hands warm again.

Wait a minute!
Are you just now talking about trading me in for some other woman who will not so much as try to delight you and do nothing, absolutely nothing about making ripples go out across your pond?

You better not go trade me in!
I am very good at giving you just exactly what it is that prolly God even knows like I knows that you're needing and no other woman has had such notions and commotions as I try to dish out to you when you're out with the dog fishing on the pond, thinking you got it all covered and you'll just up and walk away

I would not stop going off to find you

and when I do you better plan on not having such a plan cause I will mess that one up too!
So there!

You are stuck with me even when going off to get unstuck, mister catfish!

And and and

I was going to come here and write some something about auditioning for the part of some highly attractive female figure
figuring on snatching you up good and up!

But, now I don't want to.
Not even at all. Instead I want to go do something else that's more
riveting or inviting.

I am sure there is out there
a finer package
and it needs some auditions to get it featured
and made into a radio tune to play on some 5 o'clock's shadow with chrome and zoom zoom pink paint
or something nice like that.

By the way, my pro-tank is firing and hot-bothered just fine without one thing wrong with it, all in working order

but I am sure whatever one you're ordering
is gonna be leaking just like crazy, a broken finangler, a problematic piece of female non-sense junk!

She was newspaper print and folded,
licked on the seam and stamped

going by the night lane
up the road where only the truckers are.

You're right about her being reserved and all,

it was a Holiday special on center page,
down at the bottom

a used goods
stolen her up this far

and the chirps won't stop
no matter how hard she tries to get out on the sidewalk
and skip on down it in front of all the shop windows,
cafes and sidewalk musicians

it goes chirp
in everything she's seeing
it don't stop.

I'm feeling tormented tonight and sad.
I gotta get myself up and strong again. Just listening to tunes and trying to reach into memory and find that sweet note that'll do the trick.

I could not sleep last night, must have tossed and turned till the tired little mind realized it was four o'clocks all over the place. I've not been this w reckless since you had disappeared from me and I spent time crying, my heart hurt and it hurt last night too.

Then I must have finally given over onto sleep by thinking about getting up and writing you a poem, because I figured out what poem you wanted from, so I'll write it today.

Notes During Conversation with a Catfish

He lifted the brush
and touched the red paint with a golden tip
to the points of the outside window.

She was a house.

The fish came.
The fish went.

The bridge was there,
then she walked over the bridge.

There was a bench at the water's edge
but nobody sat at it.

She jotted a note in her mind
that is where to leave Cat, on a bench, in a garden
and with music always playing.

It looks so beautiful there.

It's like a smooth but heavy rock in the sand
and someone rakes around it.

I think about pattern,
I could make a curve around the rock,
a bend, a fork.

I could pile a rock on top a rock on top a rock.

When the white petals fall onto black rocks,
there is water all around that they may get out into in.

The gnarled tree that stands only as tall as my hand.

When one says, "Tree.", people think tree and tall and this one is only
as big as my hand, no one is thinking of it.

She was long, long, long
and mad.

Her thumb flipped,
shoulder hustled and her legs were like plows
digging at the damn.

Pouty, provocative
and had.

Susie climbed right up him
and laid him flat.

The angry words
were kettle-thrust
and tuck-too on her hips
and rev.

The motel, the bourbon,
the bed.

The only way to stand in embrace with Mister Hollywood
was for her to play the part of the Hollywood Dame.

Of course it's acting,
he'd not speak the lines
if he was not to be paid.

The Lucky Hitch

It was a hilarious Saturday
(a bit flirty in the day)
and I was out on the motorcycle
just cruising the scene
looking at the prettiest ladies
like they say, living the dream

that's when I saw her.
She had a thumb out, cocky brow
and a paper sign that said Hollywood
in giant sharpied block letter.

Well, if I'd had my canon digital,
I'd of asked her for a pose,

but instead I pulled on over
and told her she looked something
right out of the blues and it goes.

At first I thought she was frightened
than I thought she'd flirt, but imagine my dismay
when the doll strutted around majestic
in her pluck darted skirt.

What a lay I couldn't picture happening.
What a lay I did not need.

I was about ready to throw my own thumb out there
and get the hell out of dodge,

"Do you want to go to Hollywood, ya dumb bug?"
I found myself replying,
but she just looked sad, whiny and no fun for me,
I was miserable, just from the moment's company

only then I stalled, because I caught a twinkle
a deep dark forgotten

and that was something to me

(to the tune of The scenic route with my gal)
`Do you know, I was so angry, Kitty,' Alice went on...`when I saw all the mischief you had been doing, I was very nearly opening the window, and putting you out into the snow! And you'd have deserved it, you

Part Two:

One minute she seemed to know me,
I felt quite exposed,
it was like she looked inside me
and so the story goes.

"I'm broken hearted." chimed the lady
"Aren't we all?" is what I said.

Which is when I told her,
"You're not gonna talk on this ride,
otherwise just stay pretty tight right there."

We had a mad relationship
out on the roads,
she kept her mouth quiet
and steered me on the curves

her appetite was humongous
and I'd make her pay for her own,
but I liked when she smiled over crackers
and laughed over the mushrooms and roasts.

We talked about the gypsies,
the carnival and it's clowns,
the poets, the artists and the performance
of the hottest stars on the stage.
`Do you know, I was so angry, Kitty,' Alice went on...`when I saw all the mischief you had been doing, I was very nearly opening the window, and putting you out into the snow! And you'd have deserved it, you
little mischievous darling!
