This song, “I Need You Near (For What You Are)”, was voted as my second best song by some friends and me. It’s from a CD called From The Heart.

I Need You Near (For What You Are)

I’m not looking for a friend,
I’m not asking you to send
money that you have to lend.
I need you near, I can’t pretend.

I need a drink when I get dry.
I need a hand when I get high.
I need to live before I die.
I need you near and you know why.

I need the love that mama gave
to her baby to behave
ten years prior to the grave.
I need you near for what you save.

Your love is like a lake beneath the summer sun,
or, maybe it’s a spring when April’s just begun.
But, you must be blind, yes
to not see your own kindness.
Then, I guess for you it was not fun,
was not fun, too much fun.

I need to find a way to cope
with people who tell me that dope
is what is needed to elope.
I need you near to give me hope.

I need some light so I can see
and where there’s darkness, I can’t be.
With my own feelings, I must agree.
I need you near to smile for me.

I need to see somebody grin.
I need it so I can begin.
And though happiness is called a sin,
I need you near to let me in.

The trees that rustle in the holy breeze outside
remind me of your idea that you have to hide.
But, it’s not so bad, no,
to sometimes be sad, so
you should at least attempt so you can say you tried.
Say you tried. Where’s your pride?

Though now we know the moon’s not far,
at night time, I still need a star
and something good and my guitar.
I need you near for what you are.

Michael, great tune! I just figured out that if you push "Place inline" it will make the attachment code so you can move the player to where you want it. I hope you don't mind that I tried it on your post and moved the player to the top of the post just to see how it worked.

I'm going to add this info to the instructions.

I love your music! Thanks for posting this! :)

Actually, that's where I think it belongs, Doreen, so thanks, m'lady.

And thanks for the compliment.

To friendship,
Michael

Cool!... I edited the instructions, too, to tell everybody.

Also, you can add a "file comment" when you upload so it would show up as "Attachment: Your file comment, perhaps the name of the song" and then the player underneath. That way, the player shows the title of the song on the top of it. I edited it for you to add the file comment. Hit EDIT on your original post so you can see how the code appears where the attachment code is at the top, then scroll down to see where I added the name of the tune in the attachment/file comment box.

We're learning together! :D ... New cool feature but just now learning all the ins and outs of it.

So glad you came to join us and post your great music! You know I'm a big fan!

Radio8 will be coming back, too... soon as we can! :)
