I can see where you're getting the Indian/Middle-Eastern thing. I used a scale that includes intervals that aren't found in Western popular music (including bluegrass) outside of certain breeds of heavy metal. These particular intervals produce a dark and mysterious tone, which is why I used them. They're also found in nearly all Near East musical traditions, where they are sometimes dark & mysterious and sometimes cheerful & spicy, depending on what else is going on. (As I'm sure you're aware, music is all about CONTEXT)
There's an acoustic guitar, a banjo, and a mandolin in there, and also another guitar that I digitally dropped an octave to serve as the bass.
