Fito Páez in concert last night in Plaza San Martín. I used to like his songs twenty or fifteen years ago, then in the nineties-something I found them a bit stupid, but last night I enjoyed singing with the crowd.

Just downloaded and listening to a gem, and I mean a G-E-M. This recording is a as close to a time capsule as it gets-back to the days of the mid-sixties when protest singers were really protest singers. This Harvard show from Janurary of '65 represents the tail end of the civil rights era when young white folkies who would soon be taking up the anti-war cause. I first became familiar with Richard Farina when my teenaged girlfriend gave me a copy of Been Down So Long It Looks Like Up To Me to take to jail with me when I had to go serve some weekends for being a juvenile busted for pot early in 1968. Richard Farina had already died by then, but I sort'a filed him and his story in the back of my mind. I knew his young widow was Joan Baez's little sister but I never made an effort to become familiar with their music. They were SOOOO GOOOD and this awesome recording of this concert really shows it.
Plus Eric Anderson

and headliner Judy Collins

really make this a fantastic recording. Wish I could upload the whole thing for those interested in hearing it, but here's some choice cuts off it.

You ever lose any sleep worrying about money scooter? I never do. made enough money to buy miami but i pissed it away so fast, mostly on my family. Well I got 13..00 my checking account and about a week to pay day but I got one more avocado and I dont have to buy cigarettes any more so I figure I got it made. Then this outfit called Rhapsody drafts my checking account for 9.95 because I forgot to cancel my subscription.
