The bad brains? where are they from, mnaz?.
Thanks for sharing your lista!, I'll try some of the songs when I learn how to use e/mule...!

My friend Ana, who heard me saying somewhere that I liked Atahualpa Yupanqui lent to me a double cd (property of her husband..!) with 30 Atahualpa's songs . Amazing guitar, amazing songs.

oh yeah, the cherub rock..
need to get that one out...

O i bin jamin another mustified mix tape....
hell, this one ain't so mustified, made it 4 years back.
maybe someday i'll join the i-poditudinal 21st Century.
gotta get up earlier, I guess....

anyway...

sleeping bag/burnt orange peel-- beck... "the moon is sagging down like a metal ball"...
space humping, $19.99-- lifter puller... "power to the people making money with their mouth". (my ex-roomie knew these guys)
split myself in two-- meat puppets... "gotta laser in my shoe".
50 ft. queenie-- pj harvey... "hey now i'm king of the world, you wanta hear my song, you come and measure me, i'm 50 inches long"... (polly jean has a way with the words)
the phone call-- pretenders... "this is a message"..
pleasures of the flesh-- pain teens... (simply) "the pleasures of the flesh will drive ya outta yr mind".. (or not simply)
honey bucket-- melvins.... battle worthy.
six pack-- black flag... "i gotta six pack and nothing to do. i gotta six pack and i don't need you... my girlfriend asked me which do i like better.. i hope the answer won't upset her"...
turn on the light-- bad religion... "it made him feel like he could buck the system"..
stepping stone-- sex pistols... "I I I I not yr stepping stone", or "I I I I am a stepping stone", upon alternate listenings (god, i'm lazy... i know it's a remake...)... okay, i finally googled it... one of the monkees hits (boyce and hart, et al)..
1-2-X-U-- wire... "saw u in a mag, kissin' a man"..
soul sucking jerk-- beck... "i got a job makin' money for the man, throwin' chicken in a bucket with a soda pop can... puke green uniform on my back, had to set it on fire just to fry the chicken fat"....
already yours-- curve... oh, that wall of shoe-gaze distortion...
nightshop-- fugazi.... oh that looping, guitar oscillation....
flowin' prose-- beastie boys.... completely at home, completely out of place..."the purpose of it aalll"...
total soul-- beck... "she's got a lit cigarette, she's kickin' the shit".
mercuric- thrones... no words. this band was started by a bass player.
neighborachie-- voluptuous horror of karen black... "neighborachie, the guy next door"... (i almost wrote alternate lyrics to this one, like "Li-ber-achie, the gu(a)y next door"... but i didn't). heavy metal... it's not just for devil worship anymore (or is it?)
the wait-- pretenders... i know this song is supposed to be about sex or something, but to me it symbolizes the enduring pain of our existence.. well that and chrissie hynde breathing into the mic.
teenage lobotomy-- ramones... "guess i'll have to tell 'em that i got no ce-re-bellum".... "all the girls are in love with me, i'm a teenage lobotomy"...
lost on the freeway-- meat puppets... "lost on the freeway again".. (i know this one)... and the line, "i'm tired of living nixon's mess", kinda sneaked in there... where else can you get that?
U stupid asshole-- mudhoney (on the b-sides)
fume-- beck... "there's a fume in this truck, and i don't know if we're dead, or what, the fuck".... "we spent many years always tryin' to get high, smokin' brokin' pencils and beatin' up kids, talkin' to the devil and drinkin' a coke, now we're tota-ly rock-in', tota-ly rockin"...
puzzling diagnoses-- pain teens... "baaad environment"...
song to the siren-- chemical brothers.... the root of all postmodern disconnect, and danceable to boot.
copache-- melvins... makes me think of a combined comanche-apache attack, y'kno, like in the westerns... or maybe revenge against quiet.
damaged II-- black flag... "i'm confused, i'm con-fused.. don't wanta be confused"
the big payback-- big black... "let's take a walk, we'll have a talk"..
my desire-- pain teens... something about melting your body in two...
nickel to roll-- jucifer... rap divided by itself.

what was i thinking?
