Greensleeves

Post by Lightning Rod » June 11th, 2007, 10:50 am

this morning my friend Mischa sent me his guitar track for this piece and I added the flute

He plays a ten stringed guitar that has a neck as wide as a two-by-four

Greensleeves

supposedly this song was written by Henry VIII
like I really believe that
"These words don't make me a poet, these Eyes make me a poet."

I believe it.

I could use to hear something different
I hope it is going to be some madrical sounding new age sound
I love that stuff, makes me want to drive my head through the wall
I listen to it now

but on a somewhat related personal note about mornings

I can't get this song out of my skull this morning.
Down the street the dogs are barkin'
And the day is a-gettin' dark.
As the night comes in a-fallin',
The dogs 'll lose their bark.
An' the silent night will shatter
From the sounds inside my mind,
For I'm one too many mornings
And a thousand miles behind.

I hear your friend plays the melody line on the guitar. Very nice.

How can you play flute with him when he's playing the melody line yet you refuse to play flute with me when I play the melody line?

I asked you this just moments ago.

You answered, "Because he plays the notes in all the right places."

I replied, "Are you trying to say I don't play the notes in all the right places?"

You answered, "Yes."

Well my goodness! That's a helluvan insult, huh? Not only is it not true, it's MEAN.

Hope you enjoy living in Tennessee.

I think that you know me well enough, truck, to know that flattery is not in my repertoire. When I compliment somebody, they know that I really mean it. The flatterer is like the liar. After a while you don't take anything that comes from his lips seriously.

Seems that Doreen has as much trouble taking compliments as she has taking criticism. It's a two sided coin. If you take one seriously, you have to take the other seriously. I don't read my own reviews. And I never take myself seriously.

and doreen, I'll play music with anyone who will play with me
"These words don't make me a poet, these Eyes make me a poet."

That, my friend, is simply not true.

You won't play music with me. Because you say you want me to play chords.. and chords only. No melody line.

Oh well. I don't play piano that way.

AND guess what? When I play, I play with all the notes in the right places.

Why I get insulted by you saying I don't, is beyond me. I shouldn't let you get to me like that.

When someone says something untrue about me, why would I get insulted by it?

I donno. Just please stop insulting me, OK? I choose to be around supportive people, not people who put me down.

That's not critique... it IS criticism and I refuse it.

Here – try playing this melody line.

All the notes are in the right place. Think you can do it?

I'm done with this. Finito.

ok, doreen
let's get down to the basics
chords are made of notes
you don't understand chords
so you refuse to play them
it's a simple thing to learn
but you choose to be willfully ignorant

then there is the matter of rhythm
the beat doesn't stop when you make a mistake or a hesitation
it goes on
maybe that's why you feel left behind
Here – try playing this melody line.

this is very nice playing, doreen
but you are already playing the melody line
it's complete
as you are
complete unto yourself
all you need is a jacuzzi and you're good to go
you are a soloist
go for it
"These words don't make me a poet, these Eyes make me a poet."

Clay I am pretty obsessed with life on the screen these days.
But I don't want to get side tracked on a long ramble about that.
I was there at the beginning Clay
When you and Doreen started collaborating
This place won't be the same to me with out that
Sounds like this is about aesthetics
I am no help
But I sure hope you all can reconcile your artistic differences

You are both my cyper pals

Bullshit.

I don't refuse to play chords! That's just plain bullshit.

Where the hell did you get that idea?

I also rehearse my pieces and do NOT hesitate once I learn them. What you fail to understand is that I READ MUSIC. I study my music. I practice. If you want to insult me for hesitating when I'm learning a piece, go ahead. No problem. I don't give a shit. When I perform a piece, I do not hesitate.

I feel left behind? I have no rhythm? I can't keep the beat?
Jesus Christ.

Go ahead, Lightning Rod. Add some more insults to this thread. It's your thread.

doreen, this thread was just to share a tune that my friend and I did
I know that you think everything is about you, but it's not
it was not intended to insult you
my observation is that if you devoted as much time to playing music
as you do to being insulted, then we might be able to make some progress

I replied to your responses as honestly as I could

let me make this simple suggestion to help resolve this tension:
if you would record a piece that is appropriate for the flute
and give it to me as an MP3, I will play with you.
You choose the piece

No thanks.
I'm done.

No, it's not all about me. I was just sharing with the world the little conversation we had this morning on the deck. Just wanted to document it because yes, the conversation WAS about you insulting me. Why did I want to document it? Just so I could refer to it later to verify that I have made the right decision.

Peace.

The note is a simple thing
the chord is more complex
the note is individual
the chord is like society

it's built on relationships
and intervals
elements working in unison
no, harmony
no, abbreviated scales
no, none of the above
just a relationship of tones
like the relationships of people

everybody has to play their part, you see
if you want the chord to play in harmony
"These words don't make me a poet, these Eyes make me a poet."
