what classic tune do you think had a lot of influence in the progression of music?

i'd vote for ludwig's sonata pathatique
but then again i'm a diehard for certain classics...

what do you like? which classic tunes have made their way into your brain to stay?

and why?

i used to know a guy who had a record (yes when vinyl was still the only option) of 101 covers of louie louie.

at least i think it was 101, though that seems like a lot of tracks to put on an album. it might have been a double LP, and also you have to consider that the song is maybe 2 minutes long, which leaves room for a lot of tracks on each LP.

so yeah, louie louie because it's the song that every cover band will cover eventually and therefore has contributed significantly to the progression of music.

gotta be "For Your Love" by the Yardbirds......that song was the 1st big change....look at the musicians in that band.....jimmy paige.....jeff beck....eric clapton ......
