donovan's version is the best... always has been to me

what classic tune do you think had a lot of influence in the progression of music?

i'd vote for ludwig's sonata pathatique
but then again i'm a diehard for certain classics...

what do you like? which classic tunes have made their way into your brain to stay?

and why?

louie louie!

i used to know a guy who had a record (yes when vinyl was still the only option) of 101 covers of louie louie.

at least i think it was 101, though that seems like a lot of tracks to put on an album. it might have been a double LP, and also you have to consider that the song is maybe 2 minutes long, which leaves room for a lot of tracks on each LP.

so yeah, louie louie because it's the song that every cover band will cover eventually and therefore has contributed significantly to the progression of music.

It definitly was the party anthem of choice for the great youth culture movement of the 1960s.

When I starting listening to music for the first time. There were two songs that I can remember. The first one was Glen Campbell's "Wichita Lineman" and the other was Paul McCartney and Wing's "Listen To What The Man Says."
