Post by Dave The Dov » December 1st, 2007, 12:13 pm

There will be a celebration to honor his memory here in Madison come this Monday. Unfortually I won't be able to see it. But I wish I could.

Here's the info on it.

THE LIFE OF OTIS REDDING - MEMORIAL CELEBRATION
Monday, December 3
5:30 - 8:00PM
Free and Open to the Public

Monona Terrace Community & Convention Center invites the public to join in a special celebration that pays tribute to rhythm and blues legend Otis Redding. The event marks the 40th anniversary of the Lake Monona airplane crash that took Redding's life. The event will feature some very special guests, including the one surviving member of the group, trumpeter Ben Cauley. In addition, Craig Inciardi, curator from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, will present on the memorabilia collection of Redding's widow, Zelma Redding. The event will culminate with a showing of the recently released DVD The Legacy of Otis Redding in the Lecture Hall.

*The rooftop will be open from 4 to 8 p.m. for fans to view the Redding memorial.

I love him!

Wish you could go to the celebration.... :)

In this particular performance, maybe he couldn't hear himself very well 'cause he hit a lotta flat notes. lol ;)

but I love him anyway. :D

OK, I've listened to two more and in my ear he hits flat notes every time..... LOL!!....so maybe it's just my ear. This one is probably the studio recording, not a live performance.

Dear Otis, please forgive me for critiquing your voice. :P

He forgives you. Ironically his performance that was to have taken place here in Madison was on December 10th 1967. The day before my second birthday.

The poster for the show.
