Thanks. I never heard of him.
Interesting comments about the music industry too. "Once somebody finds my website I am as big as warner brothers." Nobody has heard of me but I been making a good living for thirty years.
I really liked his "gospel" song
Train Home.
"When you dig my grave
would you make it shallow
so I can feel the rain"

My weight is out of control and I am thinking about those poor pall bearers.

reminds me of a willie nelson song for some reasonBut the dead don't get no vacation,
down in that subway station,
the only break they take is to the bone.
They waitin' on a train to take 'em home.

I love Chris Smither. I don't remember how I discovered him but I'm happy you enjoyed, jack! One of the guys who was in our last Cabaradio show knows him and has performed with him, he said. I had a CD which I wore out listening to over and over. Eventually I had recorded it on my computer and I gave it to Wireman, 'cause he liked him too. Then all my music got erased somehow and I've never been about to figure out what happened but 2 gigs of music... GONE.. i was so upset.. but hey, music is everywhere.. there's lots of music so I'm collecting more. I'm so glad for YouTube... it's so excellent to be able to watch performers I've missed. Best invention since sliced bread.
... Here's a link to Chris Smither's website if you're interested http://chrissmither.com/
And thanks for the Willie link!
You've inspired me... I'll listen to more Willie tonight.. i love him too!

Very cool! I've known that tune forever... many people have recorded that. I had no idea Chris Smither wrote it!
