but trulye, the best musical is 'an american in paris'.
with a probable second place for 'mary poppins' which just keeps delivering numbah ahftah numbah.

Fred Astaire is ballet. Gene Kelly is jazz. I love them both but they have totally styles, of course. I don't know why Astaire creeps you out. Hmmm... Seriously, ballet dancers study Fred Astaire. I had a ballet teacher show Astaire videos in class. Surprised me but she told us he is often used as an example of perfect form and fluidity.

For musicals, I'm a big "West Side Story" fan ... I also love "Cabaret!" and "Guys and Dolls." (but hey, I love a LOT more of them too.. lol )... oh and "All that Jazz"... what a great musical

i guess i dont dig ballet like i digs jazz. cab calloway included.
but i already knew that.
west side story struck me when i saw it years ago. havent really seen it since. though i read the MAD magazine sendup about nikita kruschev & the UN once.
cabaret i have missed entirely. as well as chicago. and hedwig.
definitely into the older things m'self.
