What is the world's cheesiest tune that you love anyway?

Post by Lightning Rod » January 18th, 2005, 11:22 pm

I was trying to think of my nomination
and Afternoon Delight came to my mind

I downloaded the version done by Starland Vocal Band
and then one that was done by the Captain and Tennile
it was much better. Daryl Dragon is a great producer.

I love Toni Tennile. She's from Ft. Worth, which makes her my home girl.

The tune itself is an irresistable jingle

I'm surprised that Viagra doesn't use it for their ads

(now that I think of it, Muskrat Love might fall into this category)
"These words don't make me a poet, these Eyes make me a poet."

muskrat love.
wasn't there a muppets episode using that tune? (it certainly doesn't require a leap of faith to imagine that there was)

is Moon River cheesy? that schmaltz sucks me in every time.
(could be cause a grade 6 teacher admitted to the class that she was singing Moon River on some wild stream while receiving a marriage proposal).

yes, I saw the muskrat love bit on the muppets
they may have also done it on sesame street

when I write a tune
I first try it out on the youngest kid I can find
if it works, you know it right away
I love simple tunes
this is why my idols are monk and neil young
"These words don't make me a poet, these Eyes make me a poet."

Any and all songs by the Stylistics.
Remember : You make me feel brand new ?
First slow song i ever danced to.

And while i´m on the subject , best slow
song ever recorded as to be Isaac Hayes cover
of Burt Bacharach´s : Walk on by.

Afternoon Delight!

I can still remember riding in the back of my parents' car sometime in the 70s with the windows down (no A/C back then) probably driving to Peoria, listening to afternoon delight.

Good times.
