Misery

Post by Michael » December 8th, 2010, 9:56 pm

This is another song from the yet to be released (and, again, ignored) CD called Haven't We Met?.

If you remember, the song "It's Not Clear To Me", lyrics by Doreen Peri, is on that CD. Thus far you've heard that, "The Thought Of Bobbi" and "Here At The End Of The Day".

The song Misery is another collaberation. Jamie Redhead, who I "met", so to speak, at Arcanum Café, wrote this lyrics while I wrote the music.

With your misery you swear you fight for peace
For freedom and for justice
But your words are hollow, your motives shallow
And the lies you propagate I can not allow

You bring your violence you bring your hate
Innocents dying for all the animosity you create
The fear you live in by the sword
But my pen is mightier

This is misery
Bringing misery into my life
Every time I watch the news
You bring misery into the world
Your strategy is misery
Misery cutting like a knife
This is misery

This is misery
Snatching away children
Watching misery as you force your will
Misery and destruction are your weapons
Bombarding us with misery
Misery you get your fill
This is misery

Look at the lists
Look into the eyes of the faces
You spread your venom into a million different places
Dead before they hit the ground
But you'd better stay on your toes
Cos everybody knows
What goes around comes back around

This is misery
Bringing misery into my life
Every time I watch the news
You bring misery into the world
Your strategy is misery
Misery cutting like a knife
This is misery

This is misery
Snatching away children
Watching misery as you force your will
Misery and destruction are your weapons
Bombarding us with misery
Misery you get your fill
This is misery

Spreading your poison across the world
Creating chaos sacrificing and peace
Ignoring the pleas of millions
Begging for release

This is misery
Bringing misery into my life
Every time I watch the news
You bring misery into the world
Your strategy is misery
Misery cutting like a knife
This is misery

This is misery
Snatching away children
Watching misery as you force your will
Misery and destruction are your weapons
Bombarding us with misery
Misery you get your fill
This is misery

You only communicate
(Misery)
You only understand
(Misery)
All I ever feel is
(Misery)
All I ever see is

The world is treating me bad... Misery.

I'm the kind of guy,
Who never used to cry,
The world is treatin' me bad... Misery!

the lyrics reminded me to that old Beatles song... (somehow! ). Loved the different climas in the song... the so shiny-oriental beggining, the recitation in the middle and the voices armonies!!. And it made me notice that today I´m not in the mood for having enemies... Gracias for sharing it, Michael!! :D

So good that this forum flourished during the last weeks!! I´ll listen to the other songs later!

Bravo! ... to both you and Jamie! Great music & lyrics!

I'm telling you, you should sell your music for movies and TV and other uses... I swear.

I apologize for the Radio8 show going down. I'm working on it... trying to figure out how to launch it again with new software rather than creating one page at a time and I bought and own the URL radio8.org ... I just have to figure it out! I need a method for artists to upload their mp3s.... maybe I could do that right here on the forums because now we have this player... but I want to make a new website radio8.org ... so it's in the works when I have time and I need help! LOL

Thank you so much for your talents and for sharing your songs and CDs and for contributing to the shows created previously. And thank you for putting music to my lyrics previously ... it was great working with you.. I was honored... as well as letting me sing one of your songs for one of your CDs... that was terrific. I couldn't even believe anybody would ask me to sing. LOL!!!

OK... i tend to get mushy this time of year... Happy Winter Christmas Hannukah and all the other holidays to you and yours!

(PS... planning a jam to end the year... but haven't announced it yet. I've been busy trying to figure out who I am)

Arcadia.... I agree with you... Michael's music sounds heavily influenced by the Beatles!

Yes, indeed, Michael's sound is influenced by The Beatles.

But here's another little secret. I don't think I've written more that 10 songs that weren't influenced by another artist. In fact, many of my songs have been influenced by particular songs by other artists.

On From The Heart, you should be familiar with that one, Doreen, I actually mention in the lyric sheets the actual song and the actual artist who influenced different songs.

For example, "I Can't Be Owned" was influenced by a '60s hit by a woman named Leslie Gore entitled "You Don't Own Me".

Music is, indeed, dynamic, and we have our predessors to thank for their influence, everyone from Bach, who influenced Queen to Bach, who influenced the song "Jesus Christ Superstar".

Thanks Doreen and I'm willing to try to give you whatever help you need.

To friendship,
Michael
