I was watching the movie "Eulogy" and lo and behold they played one of my all time favorite songs

Diamonds and Rust by Joan Baez

Well I'll be damned
Here comes your ghost again
But that's not unusual
It's just that the moon is full
And you happened to call
And here I sit
Hand on the telephone
Hearing a voice I'd known
A couple of light years ago
Heading straight for a fall
As I remember your eyes
Were bluer than robin's eggs
My poetry was lousy you said
Where are you calling from?
A booth in the midwest
Ten years ago
I bought you some cufflinks
You brought me something
We both know what memories can bring
They bring diamonds and rust
Well you burst on the scene
Already a legend
The unwashed phenomenon
The original vagabond
You strayed into my arms
And there you stayed
Temporarily lost at sea
The Madonna was yours for free
Yes the girl on the half-shell
Would keep you unharmed
Now I see you standing
With brown leaves falling around
And snow in your hair
Now you're smiling out the window
Of that crummy hotel
Over Washington Square
Our breath comes out white clouds
Mingles and hangs in the air
Speaking strictly for me
We both could have died then and there
Now you're telling me
You're not nostalgic
Then give me another word for it
You who are so good with words
And at keeping things vague
Because I need some of that vagueness now
It's all come back too clearly
Yes I loved you dearly
And if you're offering me diamonds and rust
I've already paid

If that isn't one of the prettiest songs there is....and written about BD to boot. How sweet it is.
I used to walk with my head in the clouds but I kept getting struck by lightning!
Now my head twitches and I drool alot. Anonymouse

Keith Jarrett, "Facing You" ( 1972) one of his first solo improv albums.

Keith and I were born the same year ( 1945) and I have kind of grown up with him and his music. I own many ( almost all) of his many albums. His musical inventiveness and desire to push the boundaries of the piano and the voices in his head from the cosmos to the maximum make him one of my favorite artists in any medium.

His classical performances are impeccable and world-class, his combo jazz astounding, and his solo flights strange and beautiful.

An all-around creative being.

Ladies, if we ever get together it's on the playlist. There won't be a dry eye in the crowd.

And how Bob could resist turning into a puddle of goo at her feet remains a mystery. The heart be strange and sometimes cruel.

Off the subject but does this happen to you?

I'm driving home from San Antonio and all the radio stations between Ozoma and Van Horne are country and western. Now I have nothing against country and western music...I love Loretta Lynne, Vince Gill, and Dwight Yokum among many others but you hear one too many songs about dead dogs and pickup trucks and you tend to get nuts. Most of what I hear on those stations is commercially slick and not what I consider real Country. Anyway, I digress...

I finally found a nice station playing some rock and roll and not just oldies but some good new stuff too. A beautiful voice is singing, a beautiful lyric, the music amazing and I don't know who it is. Jan and I are silent, listening to this song, to her voice, her words. "Who is that, I ask?" Jan guesses, "Norah Jones." "Nah! that's not Norah, I have never heard that song before." The jockey chimes in with her name about that time..."that was" (fill in the blank) and now, I can't remember who it was...and I thought I would never forget. Hah!

I wish I could remember for her song is stuck in my mind...

I hate when that happens. I have to write everything down imeediately or it's forgotten after a few milliseconds have passed.

Give us some lyrics to go on
Hum a few bars
Maybe someone can pin it down

Often if I have a line or two to go on I can google and voila find the artist that way.

the verve, 'the drugs don't work'

All this talk of getting old
It's getting me down my love
Like a cat in a bag, waiting to drown
This time I'm comin' down

And I hope you're thinking of me
As you lay down on your side
Now the drugs don't work
They just make you worse
But I know I'll see your face again

Now the drugs don't work
They just make you worse
But I know I'll see your face again

But I know I'm on a losing streak
'Cause I passed down my old street
And if you wanna show, then just let me know
And I'll sing in your ear again

Now the drugs don't work
They just make you worse
But I know I'll see your face again

'Cause baby, ooh, if heaven calls, I'm coming, too
Just like you said, you leave my life, I'm better off dead

All this talk of getting old
It's getting me down my love
Like a cat in a bag, waiting to drown
This time I'm comin' down

Now the drugs don't work
They just make you worse
But I know I'll see your face again

'Cause baby, ooh, if heaven calls, I'm coming, too
Just like you said, you leave my life, I'm better off dead

But if you wanna show, just let me know
And I'll sing in your ear again

Now the drugs don't work
They just make you worse
But I know I'll see your face again

Yeah, I know I'll see your face again
Yeah, I know I'll see your face again
Yeah, I know I'll see your face again
Yeah, I know I'll see your face again

I'm never going down, I'm never coming down
No more, no more, no more, no more, no more
I'm never coming down, I'm never going down
No more, no more, no more, no more, no more

sung by Joan Baez.

I'm off to see if one can indeed....

"Songs To Aging Children Come"-- Joni Mitchell.

As a little girl I heard this song and it would make me dance. I was born a hippie. My mother would never play it, I would always go to my friend's house, and ask her mother to put the 78 on the player and keep on playing it over and over again. Unlike most adults, she didn't see it as amusing... she would always tell me "You're making art, dear". And so whenever I hear this song it makes me want to dance like I'm 8 years old again.
