Arcadia, I am sorry to hear of Ravi Shankar's death at age 92. Maestro Shankar lived a full & fruitful life... His music will be sorely missed. However, his sitar recordings live on & his daughter, Anoushka, has learned sitar from her father, Ravi. Ravi's daughter, Norah Jones, is also a talented musician.

Steve: yeah, I know that he had recordings & daughters (I like and know the artistic work of both of them!) and it´s life´s law that you can´t live forever (at least in the same body...) but it always makes me sad when someone who I was related to (directly or indirectly in this case thanks to the medium of music -if you want to use some conventional logic-) dies ... It seems Maya still got me in her waving: I´m mostly happy when people get born and sad when they die ... ... and yeah, he had a fruitful life and we still keep listening to him ...

Time to refresh this thread in remembrance of Ravi Shankar & his sitar, etc.

Let's revisit Ravi Shankar, et al, & his wonderful sitar & accompaniment.
