I was doing a show a couple weeks ago with the Raga-Blues gang and people were saying I sounded like Captain Beefheart, well somehow he's one I missed out on, now I'm over at Amazon.com gobbling him up. I think it's the Howlin Wolf influence their hearing with a lil Lord Buckley and Tom Waits, that was my lineage and now, this Captain rules my ears, just when you thought you heard it all....who'd a thunk it??????????...........

Om bop a rebop, Om drop a rebop. Om!
Gonna find you some links.
Hard to believe you don't know of Don Van Vliet.

I saw the Capt at U of M's Cole Field House in 1974, I think it was. Awesome!!
You want to know who really sounds like the Capt (mostly in music style, but also in vocals sometimes)? Our very own Marshall Burns, aka Mars, aka Marksman45.
I'll get you a link to some of his music.
In the meantime, run, don't walk, to your nearest Coconuts or other CD seller ... or buy it on Amazon.com .... "Trout Mask Replica" and "Lick My Decals Off, Baby" (my two faves)
More later.

I just got the deck powerwashed. They're gonna put stain and sealer on it tomorrow. We better do it soon so we can mess it up real good so it'll feel like home again.
When I was in high school, my friend, Bill, Shirley's older brother, used to put ear phones on my ears and make me listen to Trout Mask Replica over and over. Not that he really needed to make me do it. Bill would make all the instruments with his vocals and we'd sing "Woah is a mebop, Om drop a rebop, Om" together.
You're gonna love it! Hope you got that album... But no matter which albums you got, you'll love it. Wild stuff. Down and dirty. Great out there lyrics, too.
He went to high school with Zappa. Zappa used to produce him. But he was also one of Zappa's greatest influences, I heard.
