I posted a cover of "Just Once" ... Quincy Jones & James Ingram ... but I decided to remove it because I wasn't happy with it.
Maybe I'll post it again later after I re-record it and get happier with it.
There's more music on this thread! Scroll down.

anyway, I love to play the piano... I love to sing... and I LOVE this tune but I don't want to continue wasting my time if that's what I'm doing.
So how is it wasting time if you LOVE what you are doing? You're after International stardom!!
I just want to share some of my own music and favorite songs but I really need to know whether I'm hurting your ears so badly, you'd never want to listen again or not.
I liked it.

Hey, I created this website, so I have the right to embarrass myself and guess what? So do you... so post your garbage, too, and we can be sisters and brothers and all that..
Ok this is me singing Dylan

doreen, I think you did a great job on this very ambitious piece.
microbe, that was the second piece that I ever learned on guitar. I have great affection for it. Nice job.
here is a Dylan piece that I did several weeks ago.

Very nice LR. Are you/were you a professional musician? I know nothing about music theory or reading music - just muddle along using tabs sometimes. You seem to have quite a setup. Do you do a lot of mixing?

yes, I played music professionally for years
don't have much of a recording set-up
it consists of 1 macintosh, 1 $29 Radio Shack mic, 1 set of headphones and a free downloaded recording program called Audacity. No board, no effects, no sequencers.
here is a tune that my band The Infamous Joy Urchins did in a real studio a couple of years ago.

It's called Famous Bastards
written by my partner Barry Gremillion

Wow! Impressive.
And you have Doreen to accompany you on piano at home. Or do you accompany her?

Thanks for listening, microbe!
No, I'm not interested in international stardom. hahahaha! That's really funny.
What I meant was.... it's one thing to have fun in your own living room playing music by yourself or with friends, but it's quite again another to spend time recording it, turn it into an mp3 and share it with the world on the internet super highway .... and I certainly don't want to waste my time doing that or the time of others who dare to listen if I'm hurting their ears.
I'm happy that you liked it! Thanks much.
I'm not happy with it, though. (I guess that was obvious from my initial post.) I may have selected a tune which I'll never be able to sing to my own satisfaction, but for now, I think I'll edit the post, remove the link, and try again to record the vocals. Then, if I get it right, to a point where I'm satisfied with it, I'll put the link back.
I enjoyed your Bob Dylan tune! I play that on the guitar and sing it, too.
You're a fine guitarist and I loved your voice! Very nice!

Thank you for sharing! I hope you will share more of your music!
oh and LR's set up is exactly the same as mine. We share it.

A cheap keyboard, a cheap mic and an old Mac.
Lightning Rod -
Yes, it was a very ambitious piece. That's why I cut out the bridge entirely. I need to find the sheet music for this piece and add the bridge back in. It's missing something more than just a voice. It's missing an entire verse!

Didn't see your post as I was typing. I know this was directed to LR but since I'm here, I'll answer (even though he might answer later, too, I donno).
He accompanies himself and me on the piano keyboard ... He makes different voices on the keyboard (bass, drums, etc.), records them in separate tracks.
I accompany myself on the piano.

I didn´t know that Dylan´s song. Here are the lyrics (it´s for me, I don´t understand what you say when you sing)
Letra Don't Think Twice, It's All Right
Artista: Bob Dylan
It ain't no use to sit and wonder why, babe
It don't matter, anyhow
And it ain't no use to sit and wonder why, babe
If you don't know by now
When your rooster crows at the break of dawn
Look out your window and I'll be gone
You're the reason I'm traveling on
Don't think twice, it's all right
It ain't no use in turnin' on your light, babe
That light I never knowed
And it ain't no use in turnin' on your light, babe
I'm on the dark side of the road
Still I wish there was something you would do or say
To try and make me change my mind and stay
We never did too much talkin' anyway
Don't think twice, it's all right
It ain't no use in callin' out my name, gal
Like you never did before
It ain't no use in callin' out my name, gal
I can't hear you any more
I'm a thinkin' and a-wond'rin' all the way down the road
I once loved a woman, a child I'm told
I gave her my heart but she wanted my soul
Don't think twice, it's all right
I'm walkin' down that long, lonesome road, babe
Where I'm bound, I can't tell
But goodbye's too good a word, gal
So I'll just say, fare thee well
I ain't sayin' you treated me unkind
You could have done better but I don't mind
You just kinda wasted my precious time
Don't think twice it's all right

I'm from the North East of England Arcadia. Even the English have difficulty understanding us!

Finally had enough time to read and listen to this thread...music downloads so slowly for me, but well worth the wait here.
I was singin along with you microbe...harmonizing, nice guitar playing...your voice is like a gentle stream. I dug it.
LRod and Dor, pledging my time is one of my favorites...I don't know the words so got up and danced instead....loved it!
And man, that "Famous Bastards" song was fantastic! The music was beautiful. Do you have the words? I missed some of them and would like to know them. My equipment here is rather old, renders a sort of blurry audio if you know what I mean.
I love this thread! Hope more music is posted on it!
Really fun listenin!
H
