Downloading music for sharing here......How to....

I've been wanting to share two songs here lately. I've been playing them on my radio show and getting a huge response.

I don't know much about the downloading and then linking them to here process. But, it's a process I want to learn.
Are there any free downloading places that give you more than a clip?

The songs i'm looking to download are:
1. Windows of the World, Dionne Warwick. (I'd love to hear Doreen do a cover of this timely tune, I think her voice would be perfect)

2. Warmth of the Sun as sung by Melissa Manchester. (I want to add this one to my own repertoire, as I love it!)

Any insights, or help in finding free downloadable versions of these two tunes would be greatly appreciated!

Thanky,
H 8)

Here's the link Kurt was referring you to, hest
http://www.share-music.net/shareaza.html
(Kurt, your link didn't work for some reason... don't know why)

I'm not familiar with them.

I use Limewire.
http://www.limewire.com/english/content/home.shtml
It's a peer-to-peer file sharing program.

There are legality issues to consider ... i mean, it's still a huge debate about whether these file sharing programs are legal or not. For your personal use, I don't see anything wrong with it, myself. I have discovered many artists that way and have gone out and bought their CDs so why should they care? It's like advertising for the recording artists, in my opinion. But I'm not sure the record labels would agree with me.

Anyway, I've not heard either song (I don't think), so I'm going to go see if I can find them on Limewire and listen!

There's another thread on the Feedback forum where Kurt and I were talking about a place where you may be able to store mp3s on the net so that you can refer to them by URL but I didn't have much luck at any of the places I found. So? Why did I even mention it? LOL! I donno.

This software doesn't have capabilities to upload files so just like your image files, the files would have to be stored somewhere on the net in order to share them.

Here's an idea.... get yourself the free recording app called audacity and plug a mic into the back of your computer and sing for us! Maybe I can download the two songs you're talking about and Clay can do the music for them (or maybe I can add some lousy piano... lol) and send you the music and then you can add a voice track? Whaddya think? Could be fun to collaborate like that! I recently did that with Michael Bonnano (of Open Mike- Soundoff fame) - He wrote a song, played the guitar, sent me the audio file and I added vocals (I can't be owned - it's on here somewhere). Anyway, it was fun!

Here's a link to audacity.... Gotta mic? ;)

If you ever have any more recordings of you singing, I'd be happy to put them up on the S8 server and we can post them. Did we post the whole CD you sent? I can't remember! I should check to make sure.

Personally I use it to download more unusual stuff, eg Howl. I discovered Sigur Ros this way, since then I have bought all 3 of their CD's and went to their concert here in Toronto.

Sigur Ros? Not familiar with them... thanks, Kurt! I think I'll head over to Limewire and download a little to try it out! :)
