Wasteland Radio

Record sales are down another 10% this year. Why am I not surprised?
Is it the competition from downloads on the internet? Or is it that people are bored with all this melted similarity?
Here is a poem I wrote about this subject ten years ago:
WASTELAND RADIO
My radio is a wasteland
bleaker than T.S. Eliot could imagine
My digital tuner scans the
wavelength's horizon
On its barren CACAphonic apathy cruise
In vain; in vain.
Looks like music's lost the Muse
gone flabby from too much easy listening
jingle writers like Barry Manilow
thinks that Kenny G has something
to do with jazz
It's a sad picture
Rock has rolled its way to a
Ritual Redundancy
Pompous Posturing
Predictable as a church service
the adolescent ideals
idolatry of image as product
a priest offers the host -- a compact disc
struts with his stratocaster's
iconic hard-on
Yes, even the bad boy music is
SHRINKWRAPPED.
--------
And here is some handmade music. Absolutely free.
