The first person most people think of when they start trying to think of the best American songwriter is, deservedly, Bob Dylan. But if you truly appreciate lyrical talent and American culture, you have to include Tom Waits in the discussion. For over 30 years, Waits has been making brilliant and consistent contributions to the canon of popular music.
But this post isnt about Waits’ songwriting abilities. I sometimes like to think of some of my favorite dead writers, to wonder what theyd be listening to these days were they still around. Celine would probably lean towards anarchy-tech beats like Marilyn Manson....
