The sun dance was about to begin- the usual ....
Crazies were happening-the spirit world was reving up for the reunion of sorts-all relations from many directions came together to build lodges- one for the men... One for the women.. -and the arbor-
The tree from years gone by stood like a mysterious-shroud of many people's prayers wrapped around it- tied around the base- prayers for healing-thank you, prayers for those not born yet...
Those colors may have faded yet rejuvenated dreams and hopes and sanity all over the world...there were some that came from the era of " boarding schools" .. Being with family was what drove them not to have that kind of cruelty occur again-torn from language - spirituality -family and community bound by a desire to " protect the sacred" and the future generations- being there with all these friends from many years seemed a privilege - a journey well taken...
Every person works very hard- tending fire around the clock for four days and nights- drumming and singing for days- dancers blowing eagle whistles..
the spirits show you things- she could see that they had some of the same medicines- that he liked to go off and be alone after working on someone-that the intensity of entering another or taking energy off with your hands- and how that works- it comes on while waiting- what seems like dreaming...
Over the years we have learned to listen and trust each other..
He came into the arbor and she saw that light again - he moved like a man that knew the elements- his skin made her think of love-. She heard him talk about " staying away from people.. Full blooded .. She knew he was the real deal. Nebulous- yet grounded.
He smoked the sacred pipe and blew the smoke on a mans spine- he put stones and bones on top of him- the man got up and walked around... She saw that forest green somewhat luminous light- that was his and she knew it was his- she saw her faithful light- she felt the fire in her hands again- there were times when after fasting for four days - for 7 years now and dancing- that things seemed to die inside ... The things that died were buried- new things grew there- whole pieces of soul were returned to her- ( to be continued)


like smells and tastes from far away countries- smiles of people she loved- NIGERIA- days passed on badGRY BEACH-the village near by-
tuna cooking on the barbie just caught where they call the fish with a fist sound entering the water=the sea- and the fish 'come'-
even then the secret was still with in her
she didnt know then why she learned those things
the power of dance- in the feet- that spirit rolling up inside like a heart beat- hips swaying-like and eagle- flying with prayers-
waterfalls on the island she loved-
in fields of laughter with people she loved- one by one their faces came to me- grandparents-cousins, uncles- all came and there we were all together- all my relations- in the light-

after the dance - all of the dancers were eating burgers and drinking root beer floats- and fries- and thats when you find out who is driving without a license and who came with who-
the medicine man said 'i want you to come and gather medicine with me- from this place'
the fireflies- and that basket i need to get from deb- dang never a dull moment
