When we were growing up as young Lakewood Rats in East Dallas, O.P.'s uncle Dave was the senior Character. He instructed us in the ways of crime and honor.

The immutable rules of crime:

1. You don't steal from your friends. You get with your friends and steal from somebody else.

2. Don't shit too close to your back door. The smell is apt to blow back in.

3. Don't lie when the truth will do. It's easier to remember.

4. Don't get too greedy. Remember, many times can you shear a sheep but only one time can you skin it.

5. Them that say don't know and them that know don't say.

third grade went from 3rd grade in valley springs arkansas to arcadia park west dallas. in arkansas we had 3rd (this ain't no forgery) and 4th grades together in one room for the whole day. i sat near the back by the window. In dallas we had a home room and moved to different classes. i had a girlfriend from my home room who lived across the street....she took me into her garage and pulled me down. cindy baby.

left town next year. the trauma is still with me. then there was connie 4th grade duncanville nancy fifth grade nobody the 6th and hit on diane we went steady in the 7th grade where we got to do a one room class 7th grade in Euless. Mrs Dixon was the teacher.
we got into lots of mischeif. but left the intimacy of that for consolidated schools in hurst. the high school was across the street from Mosier Valley, a black township where the black kids got bussed into Fort Worth to a black schiool. My last year there was in 1962-63. I marched in the St Pattie'sday parade down commerce past the texas book depositorybuilding.
by next november 1963 i was im suburban north detroit lost inm another school where the kids called me "tex" until kennedy got shot.

sue was my fling in hischool but i was enemies with the trumpeter i sat next to in band.

yah i got outa there just knew one guy after that at michigan.he turned out pretty cool tho.

otherwise i never would've learned nothing.

In 3rd grade in Arkansas I told my teacher, "I ain't got no pencil." She rapped my hands with a ruler. In west dallas my teacher bragged on "Our fine senator, Lyndon Johnsion."

I got the 3rd grade blues
an I don't know what to do.

I loved another Texas girl, Joyce in Longview. 1987.
She came over to Shreveport for her
army reserve unit.
She was a medic.
She let me go tho so I left for Florida in 1988.

Yas LBJ was another one who could've been great.
I met a kid from Dallas who was with the Yippies during the VVAW demonastrations at Miami Beach in 1972.
He said his parents were (schh) Communists, but he was a Yippie youth internationalist.
I stayed in the Union Gospell Mission on East Lancaster Street in Ft Worthless for the summer of '87 after leaving Shreveport. Went to St. Pete, but left after 2 weeks and stayed on the road basically from May '87 through March '88 working as a laborer and travelling.
Road dayz are over, but I did it. Last hiatus and it was grand.

My bro lives in Bedford.
My friend Bob McLane still lives in Shreveport. He is a radical nice guy ex-Marine anti-Republickan "meat-eater and pleasure seeker."
Plus I got my relations in Shreveport, Baton Rouge and East Texas.
