I watched Ameriican Idol last night and could not help think how much the no talent slobs and bad singers reminded me of me on this site. I don't mean to bitch but fuck noone gives me a bit of attention, andf the only way I do talk to any one is if I get in to a stupid conver sation that consits of.

I watched it, too. Some of it, anyway.

I *hated* the way they filmed the ridicule from the panelists. As IF! Yeah, there was a lot of lousy singing and dancing but there sure was a LOT of good stuff but y'know what, Geoff? It makes me sick to see an acceptable form of entertainment being showing someone sulking and crying and ranting because they didn't get picked.....The show is based on audition, for crissake! NOBODY does that in REAL auditions! People don't get ridiculed in public! The panelist/judges don't tell them they SUCK!

This is NOT reality.... you can call it Reality TV if you want but it's NOT how it works in the real world.

In the real world, artists are encouraged and training continues and talents are praised.

And to me, this little silly board on the internet is part of my real world. I praise your talents because you are worthy of praise.

Forget the "stupid" conversations. Forget it. It's beneath you.

Continue writing and posting your thoughts and ideas and you will be well-received.... offer input and praise to others who you feel you want to reply to.

Give attention
and you receive it.

That's another basic tenet of life.

The website I write for *plug plug plug* means I get to hear a lot of underground music from unsigned artists. I really enjoy this! Some of it is pretty shitty but there are some real gems amongst the boxed backlog sitting on my room floor just now. Christ! Really good music.

Sluts of Trust and Dead Fly Buchowski (yes, it is spelt that way) to name but two.

So, as you can imagine, I find shows like Pop Idol, X Factor et al to be completly irritating. Dumb fucking talentless shmucks and shlameels (okay, I don't know what those words mean, but fuck me if they aren't good words to say, just say them one time). Okay, some of them can hold a tune and dance pretty well. Big. Fucking. Deal.

I know I may be getting the world of art and the world of entertainment confused here but I just can't see a place for this kind of nonsense. I guess it's all about choice. If dumb America and it's fifty-first state (little ol' us in the UK) want to watch this fucking horse shit, then...fair enough.

But, like religion, I reserve my right to criticise. Pop Idol is for morons. I'm sorry, sort of, but if you watch it, you're a moron.

The judges ("judges") belittle these imbecile wanabees for TV ratings. Then they find a winner and primp, preen and mould them into what they deem to be a sellable fucking product. Product, not artist! And what you end up with is a sterile, souless, heartless, brainless, useless, passsionless fucking cunt! (note how I've only used the "C" word once in this post? That's because I'm aware of it's power when used sparingly)

The early 90s version of these shows was fucking Gladiator (you had American Gladiator, which, I think, was much the same, except with Americans) and in the UK, the late 90s versions of these shows were home improvement shows. SHows in which mentally ill people let celebrities into their homes on the premiss that these bastards would "improve" their home decoration. Christ!!

Anyway, these shows are smoke screens. Stay at home, watch TV, drink your beer and don't think about anything, whatever you do, don't think about anything.
