Of Kayaks & Children

Post by the mingo » May 15th, 2011, 4:42 pm

You can read all you want to about kayaks. Information up the wazoo. You can become learned and proficient in kayak history, lore, facts, figures, etc. but... you will know nothing about kayaks when you are done. A child who puts a kayak into the water and puts himself in the boat and pushes out from shore and puts a paddle in the water and pulls back on that stroke knows more about a kayak in the first eight seconds of that activity than all the words, knowledge, and understandings, that ever were or will ever be. And what is true of kayaks & children is in the same way true of countless other things of this world.

Yep, I agree although I have never put a kayak in the water, I believe this to be true...
