nigeria 1981

Post by creativesoul » May 23rd, 2012, 8:45 pm

:) his passport had a big hand holding up an infant that had amazing eyes- 'off to go see your poppa kid'
very quickly-norman mailer talks about character s emerging-

issac was the watch man at BADAGRY beach in nigeria, near benin- even closer to where the first slaves were chained to the pier.
he had three wives and thirteen children-my son jess went to the beach and learned by two to climb a cocanut tree- and had his own soccer team- COULD CATCH A CRAB........ issac would get me a tuna from the village where the dolphin bring the fish.once my sister came to visit and we took pictures of her in a net- caught like a fish--and the way he looked at my sister, shaking his head- he said 'your dress is made from mosquito net?' shook his head a few times and smiles- looks at me as if i can explain 'america' or my sister and her customs... people did that a lot. italians looked at me when an american did something-like i had the 'american' thing too-this was short lived- as i can hold my own on a vast beach with huts and fisherman-with out coca cola and a fancy bikini -sunscreen and wooden heels and sequins- in fact- this is offensive where in many places it is accepted behavior-i loved them- they warmed my heart-
'i can see his feet after all these years.

reason is over rated, as is logic and common sense-i much prefer the passions of a crazy old woman, cats and dogs and jungle foliage- tropic rain-and a defined sense of who brings the stars up at night and the sun up in the morning---

Doll, you may have found a place of rest but I'm still on the trail.
