Dear Jan

Post by the mingo » July 21st, 2012, 11:53 am

Dear Jan,
I am here due to various obsessions - ones that are particular to myself and ones that belong to others. My great grandmother would have without question understood that notion.
You must have had a great grandmother too. Ah, memories! The plants in the hanging baskets on my porch are fake and I wouldn't have them but when you live with a woman allowances need to be made. I have some photographs of you - I'm such a scavenger, I think it's in the DNA. My grandfather filled his yard with all the things he collected that other people had thrown away. It got away from him though like these things do. I have a picture of my grandmother standing amidst all that junk with her hand shading her eyes as she looked into the distance. She was an Indian they say from one of the tribes that were decimated by too many promises. There is one photo of you that does all these things to me inside and they get going & they are all invisible. I think it's because i can see your face & your neck is in view at the same time. I don't know why that is but the invisible things get all stirred because you're hot.
Well, you know how I enjoy it so. Allowances and all it's still the best job in the world.
Hope you are well, my love.

PS - the bees have moved from that huge dead hemlock. Nobody knows where they went but they are surely gone. I was going to tell them about you but...when you get a notion you should get it done right then - there is no waiting here as you well know & nothing stays still.
Doll, you may have found a place of rest but I'm still on the trail.

thanks for writing
Dear Nin

Got me thinking if I were writing to Elke. Dear the grass is two feet hight in the yard, I got to cut it or that cocky mocking bird won't have a chance against the cat.
