Not a Bad Thing

Post by WIREMAN » November 29th, 2017, 8:20 pm

I laughed until I cried so many times in my life I can't begin to know where to start. There are the innumerable times that
it's really not funny now, but you'll sure as hell laugh at it later. You ask around at the bar for a joke, but nobody has one. That is until they get to thinking. "Do you wanna a racist joke?" one guy says, no that's not what I'm looking for, thanks. Another guy gives me a joke about police and penguins that ends up on a beach, ok that's really not what I was after. Well it's back to the drawing board once again. I never was one for remembering jokes, come to think of it. Oh, I'm funny in an off the cuff way. Like so many others it just isn't my forte. My friend Doug Powell was a born comedian. Check him out on YouTube you'll see what I mean. I'm a poet when I write and improvise spoken word. That's just what it is, not a bad thing. At least I've made an attempt at writing a story.

if you've got no memory, then freedom of the mind is celebrating!
dictate the stuff rattling around and see what comes out!

Good idea judih. I've done that.

Not my forte either, Wired (remembering jokes) ... off-the-cuff stuff for me too ...

"Joke" is open to interpretation. It doesn't have to be "jokey" - doesn't have to be "a Freemason, a penguin, and a cosmonaut walk into a bar...." It can be a quip, an amusing anecdote, even a put-down (some of the entrants did the latter.) It isn't even necessary to include the "joke's" content, just so long as there's an allusion to its delivery. Here's how I did it:

But as long as we're in search of jokey jokes, here's one of my faves, kind of a meta-joke:

A priest, a minister, and a rabbi walk into a bar. The bartender looks up, looks from one to the other, stops wiping the counter, and says suspiciously:

"Hey.... What is this, some kind of joke?"
