I saw films from the seventies
With my father playing a biker dude
I saw him in a James Bond movie where he got stabbed
Perhaps there are things no one will ever know

They don’t need to understand
Ghosts from the past
Will not haunt you
I promise
Now I been thinking
And maybe it’s going to be ok
The panic
That you are not coming by for a coffee
Is sad
reason is over rated, as is logic and common sense-i much prefer the passions of a crazy old woman, cats and dogs and jungle foliage- tropic rain-and a defined sense of who brings the stars up at night and the sun up in the morning---

I think of the times
When I was small
You were the “ gardener”.. the pool man
( my fathers mother was allowed to see me)
We found a bird that fell
Out of its nest

I knew you as an actor- a Baha’i-
Even as my father
When you took introduced me to Jeannie t
And my life changed forever on dec 6 1986
I was your best critic
When it came to being your daughter
That was my job
To do better
Somehow
When all I really had to do was let go
I imagine you with my grandma and grandpa dix
And my uncle Richard : my cousin Richard was my closest Alliance with the moon and stars
Tears and drums
Prayers and tobacco
Weed and bikes I love you Richard ..
So when did I become the intuitive of our family?
You all never listen to my soothsayer herbal medicine
My raves about circulation and excercise
Vitamins and ginger tea
All in all my poppy

You never trusted me
It is just ok today
I saw you in that lazy boy chair and I knew
This is not life
This is existing
The prisoner chair for visitors
Ha ha
Stand up comedy with you
Never really worked
I watched you with the stun man smiles and gestures of a character actor
And I asked them to come get you
You did not go outside ever
You could not breathe
It made me sad
When your obituary came out in the Hollywood reporter

a beautiful expression of the slivers of tragedy and wanting something to be something else
we all have these stories...some are buried in old coffee cans buried in the back yard
and some emerge as we get a little longer in the tooth through some weird process called re-mapping
but however it comes.... it can be bittersweet

just recently I grasped the definition of bittersweet for whatever reason
I always had this idea planted in my head that bittersweet was a place in the middle ( of bitter and sweet)
but after a particular situation I was personally involved in I came to realize bittersweet is not a middle position at all
it is feeling the extremes of each simultaneously.....the utmost degree of bitter, and the utmost degree of sweet

thanx for writing this
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

that... is one of the most profound observations I've come across in quite some time....

I am always impressed with the little sparks
Like the Fourth of July inside
When one sentence- one paragraph
A metaphor
A memoir
Opens the door to yet a secret garden
Flowers bloom inside
Color and style
