lake montebello
at my back, my eyes at midnight
on the hazy ring around the big moon
the roof is lit by nature
I am lit by a strong cocktail
and a lingering whiff of herbatious
endeavors, the sky is clear
the chaise lounge is twisted
from heavy winds and bodies
but still does the trick
like a hapless hooker, life
is pretty good considering all
that can go wrong, ask
the wireman, he knows the truth
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

where to hike today?
consult the oracle
topographical maps
torn and dirty
like thumb-smudged pages
in a dog-eared bible
book of isaiah
or corinthians
royalston quadrant
otter river
birch hill wildlife management area
(BHWMA to us in the know)
mclaughlin trail
river meander
ancient bridge abutments
always something new
on this familiar byway

drizzle and dark
less traffic on saturday
here in the urban jungle
the hamsters in metal boxes
are not spinning their wheels today
they're home sleeping long as they want
nestled under the covers of dawn

I like the quiet of the weekend
even the ambulance sirens seem gentler
maybe they have a special damper switch
for saturdays and sundays, a kinder
and gentler approach to the hospitals
less stress on the afflicted as well....
worked nearly every single saturday

when i carried the mail satchel
was out of sync with the rest of the world
and friday nights were no big deal, had to
get up early the next morning, and I know
my ex never understood the sacrifices I made
for the security....for the family
ah well, no biggie.... water over the damned
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

yeah the Saturdays
for survival
giving the family
a better life
wondering all the time
hoping some doggie dog
don't jump out and "chomp!"
then it all ends, but it's really
a new beginning
once ya sort it out
get a little firehouse in Bohemia
and rock the nights away
then meet a cool momma
and do it all again

Wamma Jamma
what a panorama
stars looking at stars
the pink moon
been hanging just above
my roof, and the chilly nights
are just right for a hoodie
and a blunt, and the old
chaise lounge is like an old friend
we're both warriors
of all kinds of weather
and the jam is in the survival
baby cuz the alternative sux
and I can hear the sax player
in the house next door, so life
is good
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

help ya into a
jam, I guess
if u don't use
a little too much
force
there I go
dylanesqueing
if there is such
a thing
rambling on
call it jam
careful of that
vocal till I see
the doc
growled a bit too
mucho much
but to jam
is not to speculate
even though there
ain't no rules

another day
another procedure
guess these docs know
what their doing, but
what if they are just
in it for the money, what
if their medicine is stuck
is the big pharma jam
what if chinese herbs
could do the same thing
what if all this poking
and prodding was backward,
medicine in the USA can be
very good, but I wonder 'bout the
overkill, 'bout the closed minds
never had a doc yet talk about
nutrition....wtf ?....only pills
and procedures, so I be jammim'
the scope today, the eyes that
come inside you to have a look
ain't gonna feel great, but who
knows maybe there are alien life forms
in there
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

how did I get here?
66 next week
or so
66 orbits around the sun
spent scuba diving
mountain climbing
now I just walk the dog
arthritis
bifocals
and retired...
me, retired!
jesus...
a life of 8 to 5
jammin' in the lab
lasers and tunes
Gaussian profiles
Mahavishnu Orchestra
yeah man! physics kicks ass
all behind me now
what day is today, anyway?
car talk was on yesterday
so this must be sunday
think I'll stay home
too many working joes
crowding the trails
jammin'
jammin' what life should be
into two too short days

" I got the news today oh boy....."
a Day in the Life of another old-timer
doc says, you gotta tumor, and
we need to get it out of you, send
it off to the laboratory so they can
tell us what it is, man how crazy
is that. something foreign growing
in my bladder, did it just start or has
it been creeping in this 67 year old body
I thought I knew, and well fuck this invader
it doesn't have a chance, I'll kill with my mind
dissolve it with some focused meditation,
and a doctor I really like, he looks you right
in the eye, speaks softly but confidently
you can tell he is one of the good ones
a real human being, not a shill like most
I meet...so now I officially have a urologist,
.....never ever imagined I'd have one, I've
graduated into the healing jam...it's like
a genre I didn't know about, so it's fresh
and exciting, and I will immerse myself
in the music of life, badda bing badda boom
I'll be rocking the standup bass this afternoon
and singing at the top of my lung capacity
badda bing badda boom all around the room
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

jam on me
useless words
sounds in the abyss
but delivered with bravado
got my cd
got all them performances
those that saw them
some vids out there
but thanks to Jamie Wilson
it's there
to hear
and feel
for this I am blessed
bless you Steve Weaver
you are a talented man.

thanx Mark and Arcadia
my cyber friends that are oh so
real to me, the miles keep us
here in electronica but the feelings
come into the real heart, it's time
to battle, my good friend told me
never say you have something
always say you are fighting something
always say you are in the process of
getting rid of something, never never say
I have something and it makes sense
to me to focus on the entanglement
like a wrestler trying to pin you, flip
him off ( pun intended )
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading
