from this Sanctuary
in the New Hampshire woods
I can see the distant smoke
of a world on fire...
Russian dissenters
killed by secret police with nerve agents...
American protesters
abducted by secret police dressed in black
or gunned down
by a self-appointed militia
with 4th-grade educations...
jeering mobs
ignoring the entreaties of
trained and experienced doctors
because they feel that public health
is an infringement of something they call
"personal freedom"...
at least here in the bush
the idiocracy has yet to discover me
but there are signs
that this isolation from the madness
might not last forever....

no go government
“The major problem—one of the major problems, for there are several—one of the many major problems with governing people is that of whom you get to do it; or rather of who manages to get people to let them do it to them.
To summarize: it is a well-known fact that those people who must want to rule people are, ipso facto, those least suited to do it.
To summarize the summary: anyone who is capable of getting themselves made President should on no account be allowed to do the job.”

― Douglas Adams, The Restaurant at the End of the Universe

made it to the woods today
it was so quiet I could think
the wild mushrooms were about
as were the oak and pine and holly
baby frogs hoppin' like baby bugs
so tiny....saw a bald eagle soar
across Saltpeter Creek, land
in a tree for 30 seconds, then
spread them wings and disappear
in the cloudless sky.....it was religious
or at least I guess it was....no traffic sounds, no people
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

Corona Jam time to catch up with myself. I spent a lifetime trying to be well adjusted, but I was always out of step with what was happening in real l time because I was living in reel time.
Now I have time on my elbows to get this straight in my head so I can play like Kerouac and father lots of little babies which I will call stories.

wry knots and naughts
struggle for the legal tender
corona fiscal blues

4 months out of a paycheck. I been considering alternate streams of income as a 1099 social whore.

five am music soothes my mind of nightmare traces from a dream last night

This morning the usual sense of relief that it was only a dream, did not bring me relief, a vague anxiety lingers about my protestant work ethic (if a Jew can have such a thing as a soul.) wry smile emoticon here>

When I read something like this I wonder at my vanity that compels me write.

eyes has never been more prominent
above the mask they are framed by a forehead
and as we listen to one speak to us through cloth
we look deeply into the eyes, we notice the brows
like never before, the lashes have taken on a new role
the eye jam ain't so bad, once quipped to be
the windows to the soul
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

word jam stuck in my teeth
seeds of invention compressed
in the cracks of canine pressure
what does it all mean
how does one dislodge creativity
spit it out onto the screen
when you don't have a toothpick
or some mental floss
im a lucky guy, still here
typing the nonsense of fortunate fools
no one cares to rip my head off
no critics setting up an ambush
ah, just let the doddering fool blather
he's harmless and dull like a certain kind
of nuisance toothache
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

jam jam jam
the stuff words are made of
delicious and sweet
most days save the bitter vetches
that occasionally land on the table
jam jam jam
I like it on toast, i like it the most
not green eggs and ham
certainly not spam
ram a tam tam, it's gotta be jam
my place of royal silly
my go to place for this virginia hillbilly
miss those blue ridges some days
sitting on my aunt's porch
way up on the hill in Mt. Sidney
that house she had built so she could see
those mountains 'cross the valley
and now she's gone to heaven or some such place
and she lives on in my jam
hope you are well Ailene, I remember
you always had that fresh local jam
and we could sit on that screened in porch
and eat and talk and look out for the ridges of blue fog
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading
