I dreamed I was a Hiroshima Rainbow
the musk of mustard gas rattling in my lungs
chambers of cremation, chain gangs
disgusted prisons and courts of futility.
Why must I open my eyes to see?
The light is bright as pain.
Darkness will never mislead you,
just memorize your steps.
In the dream my head exploded in colors
it was not unpleasant, only instructive.
My suit suddenly needed pressing, but I wore no suit.
Only Sartre recognized my existence.
As usual when I awakened, I could not remember this dream.
I tell it to you now only under the influence of stimulants.
Phantasms run like lava from my ears
Soon available on DVD.

i dreamed I skated
on the edge of darkness
with sharpened blades.
light was ice as i traded
glides and wide open arms
for balance with air currents
disguised as sails.
i was an olympic performer,
my costume made of glitter,
my arabesque, a silver needle.
the audience raved.
i dreamed i played them
like a pro. the show, my prize.
their eyes glowed like spyglass
lenses.
i was not tense nor drastic.
each stretch, each technical
maneuver was elastic.
my lace was precariously placed
askew when i fell off the edge
of light into the embrace of you.
on the edge of darkness
with sharpened blades.

glides and wide open arms
for balance with air currents

in my dream we were lying side by side
and we were both dreaming
I was afraid you weren't in my dream
you were afraid I wasn't in yours
it was a dream dilemma.
I kept looking for you in my dream
as i know you looked for me
or at least I imagined you did
"can you imagine in a dream?" I asked.
In my imaginary dream I found you.
You were in repose and dreaming of me
I just know it.
Was I only imagining my dream?
What were you dreaming?
and we were both dreaming
I was afraid you weren't in my dream
you were afraid I wasn't in yours
it was a dream dilemma.
I kept looking for you in my dream
as i know you looked for me
or at least I imagined you did
"can you imagine in a dream?" I asked.
In my imaginary dream I found you.
You were in repose and dreaming of me
I just know it.
Was I only imagining my dream?
What were you dreaming?

i imagined i was imagining
the imaginary wonder of a dream,
my eyes open wide to the mystery
of where i was when you were in mine
and where you were when i was in yours,
scores of angels heralding harmonies,
perplexed by the intricacies of a song,
the throng of witnesses longer than
my imagination could imagine and when
i wandered to awakening, i wondered
if what i imagined was a dream or if
what i dreamed seemed to be more.
and then i rode a wave to a shore
where i landed drenched with salt
and foam, you missing from my back,
me, alone without a mist of memory
to hang on to but oh but oh how i imagined
you here, near like a tide, my sea
taking me by undertow, my land,
my precious permanence,
gone in vapor,
gone when the taper
burned its wick into
buried wax.
