ode to a flower

Post by Lightning Rod » September 5th, 2004, 12:18 am

this reefer is formdable from nine generations of clones
it will break you out in a humbolt county sweat
with the tingle of salt behind your eyes, the salt of pleasure
and it's hard to measure whether one toke or two tokes
will put you over the line of pure rampant abandon
with your heart racing out of time and those thoughts,
those thoughs of panic and rhyme and rapture on the credit card
a straight shot of overproof rum and a slap domino promise.
God breathed a gift into this branch, oils and blessings
just a whiff of it, like frankensense will transport you to
pituitary heaven, a vegetable exhaling.
"These words don't make me a poet, these Eyes make me a poet."

there could never be a clone of you.
you adorn my cheeks with formidable
eye salt, tears from pleasure,
tears from pain, panic stricken with
raptured domino promise, a god breath
exhaled, me, the proud recipient of embrace!
i taste you on slick tongue and erase
a moment with an eternal linger
of iris light, eye to eye, right to right,
leftover time spilling into my aorta
like a lifetime more
wouldn't be enough!

Could you send me a bouquet?

I've had some of those flowers before?....(They have a peculiar fragrance to say the least)....some smell like they've been in a basement for about 30 years, others smell kinda like pine tar.....and their beauty is in their fragrance as it fills your lungs with colors of thought.....and though "memories" are few, it's lasting effect won't hurt ya, won't hurt ya, won't hurt ya, won't hurt ya......

I sing the sweet reefer of dawn
I rejoice in the smell and the taste of it
like lightly roasted almonds
like a manure lined path,
a single ray of sun over Jalisco

I sing
I sing
"These words don't make me a poet, these Eyes make me a poet."
