dance
expressions of the soul
making us one
just as the dervishes

i don't notice
the balloon of emptiness
that has settled in my chest

but i stopped for awhile this evening...
and there it was

when will this empty feeling leave me?

why is it
that i can still
hear the rhythm
of him breathing
next to me?

why is it
that i can still
see him
when i close my eyes?

i wait
to escape
into
my dreams

and yet
i am afraid
of where i will travel to

he might be there
and the pain
and the ache
will be ignited all over again...

...and the balloon will burst!

i can't decide
if i want to breathe
with him
or
without him

can't live with him
haven't figured out
how to live without him
