Bridge street and east First
donuts and money are changing hands
the soup is hot and
the snow is piled up
America you traffic signaled intersection
you backcountry crossroading bitch
I love you
Doll, you may have found a place of rest but I'm still on the trail.

She was fond of french twists,
strawberry shortcake Kremes
and the smell of coffee
on every gentleman's breath.
Tip is up, and the coffee pot's
getting cold.

little mischievous darling!

I never let a coffee pot get cold
not even close
if someone or myself makes coffee
I'll sit there 'til it's gone gone gone

and I told him sometime over jam
and brown rice toast.

oh yes we will travail
a hard thing but someone gots to do it
I may need a prescription for medical mary

jet engines whine
no Doppler effect
they come on suddenly and go off suddenly
the engines are on test stands at the AFB across the rail road tracks from my little shack.
when they come on my thoughts scatter
And I lose the thread

the thread running through the middle of the end of the beginning of the middle of the perpetual jam

tangled up in blue
and bitter herbs again.
sunny day
with trains
cool

winter
when I drove for pancho and lefty I wore my "skin like iron."
I remember how black they would be when I was winter trucking out in gods country washington Idaho oregon montana wyoming

my hands were black
and cracked
not just cracked
crevices

so these are my golden years
thanks to FDR
south texas winters
so easy for geezers like me.

we could talk about it over moldy rye bread sandwiches
Just like we was back in Salem Mass in the 17 century
