officially retired!
but things thin waiting for
it to kick in -
still have to rock some kind of work
for pocket change
but it won't be a burden -
new bike in the future
maybe new kayak too
man i really want to
paint something big - big!
i wanna hear some jazz!
i wanna remember without regret
i want something new without fear
i want to shoot the rapids of the Oswegatchie river
i want to bike the Adirondacks west to east
end to end
i want to hear rising appalachia in person
i want to break up my unplowed ground!

i want one quiet walk
a japanese garden
in a japanese ashram
with the swish of saffron robes

i want a fujiyama skyscape
with a trickle of fresh brook
low chant of om mani
fresh dots of long-tailed birds

one day upon retirement
no clocks, no deadlines
present moment breathing
alone and together

one day in a sand dune landscape
the lady says she's got no boss
she's got some freedom

this all is fine
but reminds me
that i got so many bosses
my bosses fight for my brain

is this the way?
this lady just winks
she knows what's what

" I had nothing to offer anybody except my own confusion"

sometimes I got to Google myself to find out what I wrote, heaven forbid that anyone would get the impression I know anything about Zen

like the bear with aphasia on the old Walt Kelly Pogo strip, he never knew what he wrote, someone (the possum)? had to read it back to him

when all's a swirl
the music brings me back
the lilt, the sly, the certainty
a note's a note
until the next
unexpected buoyancy
through deadpan seas
