not bitchin' the weather
80's here too
spirits in the fields
in the mind
crossing barriers
just for the hell of it
no reason
just the season
got on an old single speed bike
at a yard sale
had to pump the tires up
then rode
not bad not bad
no complications simple but
in a landscape like this
I would miss my
three speed hub
surely would
found me a feather
from a flicker the other day
bet he misses that too
I stuck it in my hat
I ain't left the ground yet
but there's the hoping

riding a bike in Baltimore
is like having a death wish
I mean they have created some bike lanes
and all, but the drivers
in their 2 ton machines are texting
and smoking weed, so had to
give it up, lest ye be squashed
we've had some highly publicized
incidents, hit and runs...they mow
you down and don't stop to help you
one perpetrator was a drunken bishop,
she killed a super nice family man
left a widow and two kids without a love
and she drove home....she was convicted
kicked out of the church, but she destroyed
a family and didn't seem remorseful...and
that's the story of bikes in baltimore...
I wish it was rare, but it isn't...and so
unless I get a bike rack, drive out to the trails
my bike
will have to gather dust....
or I could move out of the city
but can't really afford that option...so
sorry for the negative jam, it was just
weighing heavy this morning
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

bikes you take your chances
the dog story by mingo is proof
a shout in the distance
across the parking lots
of old Frederick
new article by Tommy diventii on FB today
bout b'more
over 10 years for me here in Frederick
six in sowebo, worse than the wire I'd say
me, just trying to survive with my sanity in tack
not worrying bout the uncontrollables
baby stepping, knowing nobody is getting outta here alive😎
me I feel like I'm becoming some kinda Kung fu t.v. Priest.....

yeah dem dogs'l get ya
had a few run ins on the bike
but a whole lot more carrying the mailbag
they'd come at ya two at a time
leave saliva on your leg, crazy fools
but most were well behaved
owned by decent caring folks that would
reimburse you for missed time at work.
I mean after more than 20 years on the same route
you're part of the family....you remember
the day they brought the baby home from the hospital
then saw that kid go to college, yeah most
were very responsible dog owners..
biggest problems came from dog-sitters
while folks were on vacation, or strays, or
just a few jerks in the neighborhood....never met a Chow
I liked...sneaky canines....never bark or growl before they bite
I know all the breeds....and I love dogs....had many of my own
but when you're trying to end my career by ripping off my arm
it's war baby....just you and me, and my martial arts
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

Lotsa pluses & minuses about bikes - when it comes to cities
ya got to have bike infrastructure and I ain't talking
no painted bike lanes either
I like riding love it
but it's not without its cowpie moments & such
speaking of bikes I just now

the powerful urge to create
even if you only have one string
even if five guitar pegs are missing
turn that axe into a drum
plug that string, cluck that chicken
toss that corn in the air like rice
at a marriage of words and music
the man can't stop you, he doesn't
even know why you are important
can't feel the biorhythms of life
from tower in bumfuck old york
do your thang, and keep on doing it
release the raptors of the common man
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

I watch Justin Johnson all the time
he can find the groove 8) in garden tools
whatever else is laying about
he's a pioneer, go west young man
dig the earth, 'scuse him while he
kisses the sky, there are men
and women that can see outside
the box so far it'll blow your mind
oh ghosts of Jimi and Janis heal us
'cause the fucking world had gone insane
the orange man is waving his dick around
and the korean man likes barbecue
and the only thing makin' much sense
is Justin Johnson and ole-one-string
singing' 'bout chickens in the corn
gonna put on some Cream now
slip on down into a little white room

psychedelic sounds
Pete the poet on words
Ginger pounding that drum kit
jack's gone
they had helluva reunion
with old slowhand
jojo's writing jam
hoppity hip bouncing beat on tunes
can't get those chanting
poetry towers outta my mind
in China they'd get up there
and wail other worldly words
watching the river flow
me I feel like I'm becoming some kinda Kung fu t.v. Priest.....

on the bike yesterday
goin' the store
had to get sugar
pick up some 'bacco
for the woman
way out the village
stop roadside stand
get some corn-on-cob
from the pretty girl
put a few words out there
then rollin' again
a bike will re-rout
your mind circuits
your heart
your bloodstream
rollin again
home to husk corn

"put a few words out"
such a fine gesture
"home to husk corn"
