waitin' on the coffee
seems like an eternity some mornings
the perk of the perk
the aroma almost as good as the taste
gonna jam here at the house tonight
old musician friends will appear in and out
and we sing sweet and drunk
the cider and soup simmer
everyone knows all the beatle tunes
but we do a lot more than those
some folks will slip down to the laundry room
light up, grin a little, the bourbon
kills the cold like a space heater on your pinkies...
in between the live acoustics, b.b. king
motown dance tunes, aretha, papa's got a brand new bag
and it's 2018....this is new year's eve eve
gettin' a jump on things...so jump and jam
comrades ...the circle is unbroken
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

No coffee for brunch
No need to talk bout the weather
No need to rush the winter along

The years run its course
The jams here perpetuall

perspective is a painting
every viewer sees something different
a million eyes, a million truths
and so how do we talk about it
how do we agree to disagree
find common ground in the matrix
tolerance, empathy, compassion
are great tools to have in the box
as we all try to construct the perfect world
also a couple jars of jam in the lunch pail
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

Abstraction
All in how you
see it
Vanishing points
2 point...3 point...a dollar
Went to nova college
to learn how to draw
my outdoor sculptures in 3D
Had a good professor."Luckily"
Perpetual jam keeps chuggin along
Towards oblivion, the other side,
Where there's know where
to run to, and there's' damn sure
Know where to hide......😎

burnin' dem fires
same old cast iron beast
I installed 38 years ago
could use some new gaskets
and some firebrick, but I kinda like
the imperfections, the wear and tear
of a million light years of fire
each piece of kindling handpicked
from the ground to the bag to the box
trees have sacrificed their limbs for me
they are the real heroes here, there is
symbiosis involved...tree to man
and the ashes for the garden, ground
to vegetable to man to survival to love
may the circle be unbroken, by and by
bye bye birdie, have a little jam for you go
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

one more day
NWS says maybe tomorrow
upper 20s!
cargo shorts and tee's!
we will jam along the trails
so thoughtfully packed down
by the snowmobiles!
which one?
don't know!
jam!
improvise!
play be ear!
trail jam, man, trail jam!
jammit all, been too long
missed my friends, the trees
the kettle ponds, the seeps
my soul thirsts for their refreshment
and hungers
for their nourishment
I shall feast upon their bounty
liberally spread with
jam

water is back
doesn't appear to be any damage
might have started resuscitation
just in time...didn't think the freeze
could be too deep...had a big fire
til the wee hours....then no water for coffee
so maybe dodged a bullet
tearing out the wall, replacing the copper
small miracle perhaps that I installed that copper
in 1981 and she's still delivering the H2O
steady and true, and it's so nice when things actually work
had a piece of copper in the pantry split one time
in the summer, it was just defective workmanship
on that one piece of copper, and fortunately i was there
that morning....could shut off the main...tell the boss
I wasn't coming in today....that i had a little project
and so it goes, sometimes we get lucky, and sometimes
we end up with 3 feet of water in the basement
it's a metaphor for life...just a couple tics of separation
from being afloat and being in the whitewater, sometimes
you might have a raft, and sometimes your elbows
are bouncing off the rocks, so enjoy the days when things
are ok, jam away at the things you love the most

water woes
no fun
glad your fix
was an easy one!
.
fifteen degrees this morning...
above zero!
and later today
it might nudge close to 30!
got to the hilltop today
first time in weeks
and really felt it in my hams
but also in my soul
good to see my friends
mounts Wachusett
and Watatic
and the Wapack range
and the wind turbines at the college
(what's with all the double-u's?)
(water wachusett watatic wapack windmill...)
whatever
it ain't over yet
there's a lot more winter to get through
(W is for winter)
but for now "seasonably cold"
seems balmy
(wonderful)
