eight years ago
I turned off the news
i read an article that posited
I would feel better if I did
and for the most part it worked
but I'm a slave to social media
to some degree which means
I cannot totally live in a vacuum
I seem to know most evrything my friends know
with no CNN, or Fox, or NPR
the headlines permeate any connection I have
with my computer, they seep into my mind
regardless if I never turn on the television
My brother is a tv news junkie, he's says
he has to keep up on things to feel smart
but guess what, he can't sleep !
basically ever !.....they've filled his head
with scary shit, that is actually intended
to sell cars and refrigerators...
the more frightening the better, the more
he becomes addicted, the more sleep passes him by
I have tried and tried to get him to turn it off
but he believes what I am doing is putting my head
in the sand, yet...I sleep like a little baby

the grand experiment crumbles,
the democracy is dust upon the table...
capitalism in the wrong hands brings pain
widespread and relentless

it was never really that stable
but illusions and sleight of hand
hoodwinked the masses into believing
anything was possible and mostly people

were good....and some of that was true,
but unsustainable, a fantasy, and
now that the con-men have taken over
it will take 40 or 50 years to restore some sort of balance

I'm concerned for my children having to live
in this world while I push up daisies
the cruelty is just beginning but i suspect
their will be some epic acts of courage

along the way, and that is what changes perception
until everyone on on board below the filthy rich becomes ONE
and the oligarchs.....not different political parties than the one
you belonged to ....are the enemies......the Real Enemies

that need to be driven back in the slime they oozed out of
