I left on Feb. 28th
my 54th b-day
getting a bit of wind
in my sails, actually
a whole lotta breeze
today.....one positive is
that I don't have to drive
so much....everything I needs
right outside my door.....
at times Baltimore seems
like one big village of the
damned, yet there are a
buncha good folks there,
I've been watching DVD's
of the WIRE recently &
wondering just how I made it
in that hood for 6 years????
just kinda minded my own bizness,
but more than a couple a times
I dodged disaster.....
one thing i won't miss is all the
trash on the streets and the foul
language that permeates the air
and it's not just the men......
enuff downin' for there's nothin'
like the peace and tranquilo of
those city streets at 5 am. it's
almost holy.......
me I feel like I'm becoming some kinda Kung fu t.v. Priest.....

sixty six in my rear view
losing the road was a culture shock
an earth quake for me
it happened just about the time I met you and the rest of the litkicks orphans. Late 1999 I think.

getting a bit of wind
in my sails, actually
a whole lotta breeze
tail wind or head wind?

any breezed is better than being
Dead in the water
air so still I'm praying for a whisper of a wind
I have made so many stands
and been picked up and blown away
so many times that I hardly unpack completely
anymore

You got me thinking about a pleasant evening about a life time ago

sailed up the river one summer evening
my feminist friend and I
that place up arround foggy bottom where is an ampitheatre formed of steps leading down to the river and an ocrchestara plays on a floating platform

lovely evening except for being becalmed on the way back.

a wonderful woman
long long dinners at the A V italian restaurante on
new york avenue
they would be mopping the floors and we would sit there oblivious in conversation
I gained a lover one night and lost a friend. I think it was kind of a pity fuck. I had got a drunk off her back in one of those bars along pennsylvania in capital hill. Just before he went down he stuck his finger right in my eye. It hurt like hell and I think she was just trying to comfort me.

I suppose Charm City was different for you
I had a memory of a more gritty black and white city

Maybe the reverse with DC.

perpetual homes
six years a long time for me to live in one place

I been in texas this time for about three years,

I feel pretty settled, got a nice big picture window looking out on my garden and a peaceful little quadrangle with three live oak trees. It is like a little village square.

And out my back door is the main line of the Southern Pacific Rail Road maybe a 100 yards away. And those trains pass like temple bells and I feel very at home here.

But there is still stuff I have not unpacked yet

geez I am sorry this ain't very jammy

just trying to write about my perpetual home

were the squirlls and the puppy dogs roam

and little liza jane got a street care running by her door in baltimore

and I got a train.

ahhh... there you are,
all wired up and scattin'
shakin' those rhythms,
bellowin' out yer
baritone voice, lettin'
the whole room know
the way the world goes
'round and 'round like
a mean tambourine,
kaboom!

i know where t'find
what yer up to every
time i come to this room!

;)

i feel like all the emoticons............tonite :D :) :( :o  :? 8) :x :P       :!: :?:  ....they make one heck of a poem.....
bristling with news from the wind.... it whispers "Baltimore"
all wired up...literally
hanging my sculptures back at my digs
at 3 am......but only temporarily
gonna take em to minas gallery
about half of them that is
tis a time to create and
explore, observe and ponder,
where do we ~GO!
is there even any reason for coming?
or maybe coming is the reason,
it has to be or not be,
ain't no other way,
so i'm still out here holding down the stone
it's big and heavy
and it's rising from the ground
yet i'm out here holding down the stone.........
me I feel like I'm becoming some kinda Kung fu t.v. Priest.....

what ever the reason for coming
we are all here together now

We all got our stones to hold down
and boulders to roll up that sorrowful hill

tomorrow another day another stone to roll away
and sufficient to this day is the evil there of

Sometimes I slide back a bit
trying to become what I think is me

I missed her voice
I was too busy admiring myself

Perhaps if I live to be ninety
my anger will be stoned out of me.

and when I am quiet enough
I can hear the clock ticking

today was a
long day
long good day

the bessings of longevity
it is all down hill from here
rolling free

interesting water color
seeing figures in it
it must be all the red
I thought of Jacob and the angel

learning everyday
to let it slide
shine it on
cause if six was nine
I got my own negativity
got to move quick
or you missit
before the next clock tick
got to move on

the road always running through my mind
I was born to run.

Still running
but with a limp

old age ain't for sissies

train coming
everything peace full
beautiful train horn
deep saxophone mournful sound

I hope you have a good first sunday too.
