inside out
about time
sand slides down the narrowest opening
slide along

remove tag
shuck illusions
content screams to be heart
from the depths
may light come forth

enough neurosis to last a lifetime
burn the psychic shell
and come on out and play

we are on a tilt-a-whirl
cool neon lined playground
all the lil kiddies wired to max
round and around we all go
and when we hop off, we spin
and twirl.....fall to the ground &
see an ecstatic vision of the
whole wide world....let's whirl
can anybody come out to play?

Content...
I used to read the labels.
I still do, lest I fall behind.
I admit I'm looking for a wellspring,
confused by all the packaging.

the demonic consumerism machine....
consumer of the planet,
ever more powerful,
and lethal.

I would hide from it entirely,
if I knew how.

little feats don't fail me now
as a matter-a-fact I wears a
size 12, cardomon rolls of a
snare drum that I once bid on,
ya see we had us a lil garage
band, broadway star for a front
man, lil red haired elvis presley
me I thought I was john, to me
lennon was the man, played that
guitar and bowed my legs, we had
a gas, teenage kids up on the stage
took me another 30 years to jump
back into the parade..........................

In Brooklyn
on
Patapsco Avenue
there was a hardware store
next to the union hall
with a huge neon sign
in the shape of a hammer
that jutted out over the sidewalk
where my teamster brothers and I
would congregate
with
a sword of Damocles over our heads
and swap our stories
old Hutch was the leader of our crew
he told a story about the time he was chaining down a load of steel and the foreman was rushing him
hurry up it is good enough let it ride
Hutch knew it was not right
but he let it go.
the driver was killed when the load shifted
"it was a terrible thing to see what remained of the rig that poor Danny was in" littlefeat
about a week later Hutch just dropped dead
a broken heart I think

lies all lies I am a truck I own you (anne sextonl)
