welcome class
ouch, she said
bitten by a large creature with no concerns
teacher falls down, plays dead
hoping for no more.
No more war, said Sa'adat, no more bloodshed
ouch, she said
shaken by a falling rocket
house cracks, floors falter
hoping for no more.
inside her mind frazzles
final moment brainstorm electric outtage
ouch, she said
then said no more

click
no more ouches
fall down dead
smile
Sa'adat
he dead
he got no concerns
Ouch
I once said to jota by way of appology
poets must have very large first aid boxes
when the obsidian sharp words of government leaders are tossed about so trivially.
I would bow down and worship a teacher
and all the children played war games
bang bang your dead
and I would fall down and smile pretending to be dead.
peace in our time
wars to make the world safe for the bottom line
I imagine
I picture
a change
for the better
I heard a click and the window opened and the writting on the wall said it is all holy land when see from the far side of the moon.
big blue oily marble looks so peace full from space.
Oh lordy can we start spinning for peace./

i heard falling rocketz
hid low
watched the tracers fly
trash hauled land mines
left for kids
and farmers
been on both sides
what it takes
more than fear
greater truths
the road to peace
a teacher in clearwater
left his email in the veteran
my antiwar nam vet rag
maybe he'll let me visit
i'd draw them a map
of
consciousness
teachers are miricles
undervalued
underpaid
underpanted
welll
this is a goo
i taught kids to march
honor flight
i taught young men to fly
instruction in tactical airlift
now i precept in nursing
it's better
but the first two
helped me with this one
maybe i am ready to face a class
let them teach me
robert bly says
ya get stronger by
rassling with stronger beings
shit i ain't rassling wid youze
what i don wanna dislocate my buttock
what is your name
love sent with a bomb

its for the good of all
dead familiars make pliant consumers
buy my dead mother juice
its cheaper than raped mother juice
and oh so much easier to bury

another rocket into an israeli city
1 person injured
the city mayor says to to invade gaza
soldiers on a mission
israel kills 9 missle makers
and 3 civilians in gaza
bush is coming to the holy land
he is not burning
there are no prophecies
my step-dad made missiles too
manager of quality control
guidance systems
when will we have management of quality control
for diplomacy
and healing intent
strike and counter-strike
more and more
then said ouch

actually i was thinking about this some more
i don't want to triangulate this war
it's good to know you with some intimacy
and give you empathy and understanding
like i said before i've been mortared
rockets coming in
but i could at least understand the provoocation
this ongoing cat and mouse, a deadly game
does not work and will perpetuate itself
on ad infinitum
someday israel will build a road
not unlike the ones that go from the west bank settlements
one that is protected
connecting gaza to the west bank
the palestinians will enjoy a greater prosperity
and peace will prevail
until that time
we can at least see the experiential life
through the eyes and soul of a peaceful greative giving person
who lives there
and it brings us closer
i am paying a lot more attention now

And in the end,
it has to be about a state of mind,
and in this we must trust and demand of ourselves, respectfully,
even if we've been allowed to sleep for too long.
The thing is, as too many goddamned poets have recognized, is that we're up against too many centuries by now. We are what we are, only slightly malleable.

so did I.
back it up again.
three steps forward and two back,
two more forward, three more back,
staring down that even money,
the same exhausted new plot.
yin and yang went up the hill,
to fetch a pail of water,
or chop some wood.

uphill, chop wood
downhill, chop wood
all the same

uphill, downhill, all the same,
the dead of winter longs for its spring,
still searching for a little peace.
