I don't want to end up like John Fente
Diabetes cost him his eyesight and led to the amputation of both legs. He died in 1983.
I am diabetic too

Looking at what's on my fork
at 265 pounds at five feet ten
son of bitch I used to be five foot eleven
Jack talked about those forlorn rages
forgot to mention the shrinkage.

it is okay
turned on the tv and low and behold a Judy Holiday movie with a screen play by John Fente

full of life
I never had a dog
that did not get run over by a car

not complaining
just noticing
one morning my toes looked like Polish sausages connected to a big ham, my feet so swollen

and me with my rotten teeth hitting on the women at litkicks

lucky I got a few friends still left here on studio eight

I wish I had more rhythm to this
looks so rag tag
hardly looks like a jam
but it is still spontaneous
just that poetry is hit and miss with me

but still want to be in that studio eight jam

Gandhi spinning a wheel
the sound of the morning
a rooster crows
a man talks to his dog like a wife

TV drones on
and high pitched sound in my ears
a car tires rolling on asphalt
a busy morning
the birds have all slept in
except for that rooster

heavy fog
but my head is clear

sometimes
by accident
randomly
like monkeys and shakespeare
I write something
that almost
but not quite
sounds like poetry
carriage return poseur

feed the action
feed the children
feed the cannons
kill for Jesus™

Looks like poetry
Rooster crows this morn
Doves coo at 7am.
she sits in her nest
All day & all of the night
I see him rarely
But I do see him
Constant hum on cool morn
Time of transition
Things changing constantly
Some big
Some small
Changes
Time changes all
Perpetual jam remains
Jam on me!!!

the head man
dr sax
the shaman
the interpretation of dreams
that dark sea of uncle Siggie
beneath the surface
of memory
crazy mike and his daughter
my dreams beneath a manhole cover on Caroline Street

when fear and desire
are not exclusive
we sail on like strangers in the night
we cannot recognize ourselves till old age

but then there are saints for us dark ones
shinning through the words the life they lived

maybe I should have been a bartender too
baby needs shoes
seven come eleven
tumbling dice
fortune and fate
amor fati
feed the action
or get no traction

every round goes higher

moving on from what's lost to the next loss
but I have not lost everything
always something I carry with me that was gained along the way

I was a lonely bitter man when I stumbled onto litkicks, which was the house that Jack built, and levi got bored with. at that time I was at a loss of what to do with myself, seems weird to try to explain to anyone who has not been addicted to that grind, the road, a joyful road yessssssss but even more it was the grind, that drove me, that beat thousand mile stare
right into that thing that keeps coming at you through the windshield on those arrow straight flat Kansas roads that run onto infinity, Alan Watts reminded me of something I forgot, I did not come into it, I came out of it, this world
jam is that feeling
of momentum
of free fall
down the mountain
and nothing hurts
when I am stoned
the feeling of movemnt, even if it is just shoving words ™or pixels
that's what it was
word jam road jam
jam on you on me on Jack
on Litkicks he would have loved that place
I think he would like GO too
I used to be smart

It was what he was about
He'd a loved that it happened
And it was a carry on
Litkicks
Frustration
In the controlled finality
Like a slap in the face
For the participants
But ya know I was gettin sick of it anyway
Petty bullshit quarrels
With something u can't even see
One go around with u and mingo
Better than any bullshit
We jammin
We like jammin
Whole world should be jammin too!!!

sometimes the heat
fades from the coffee
before the bottom of the cup is reached
sometimes the sled driver
loses the trail
never to be seen again
sometimes we bop
only to slam a wall
but jam is to discover
a way in
a way through
a way out
a dolphin's echo
back & forth
across a sea
Doll, you may have found a place of rest but I'm still on the trail.

Sea of jam
Ocean of words
The heard
Shout out into
darkest cyber night
Holy flight
Above the chasm
For to be read, heard
Continuous flow
Pulling, tugging
Like the waves
Like being in the parade
All about JAM!!!
Jam on me!!!

I could see it coming, I knew it was a golden age, it was something rare and beautiful that was coming to an end. Levi took a lot of abuse from some of those pecker head poets that posted there, I don't blame him for shutting it down. It was not fun for him anymore. I only hope some of his friends will post here someday. I miss them.

Sorry about the slap
I was not slapped just excluded that first shut down
I guess you gotta turn your cheek 8)

we going to sail on this word sea
float right over the meanings
sink down into the spirit
the spirit of jam
some beautiful cats posted on litkicks
cats can be so frigging vain sometimes

beautiful women too
but fortunately they are not as vain as us :|

Out Among the Stars
Columbia the Gem of the Ocean
Where Do the Children Play

the same old story
love of glory
the one percent of the one percent
who build the pyramids
temples and Ziggurats.
a great wall of suffering
for Jack's fellahim

don't the sunrise look so pretty
jam right thru the night

I liked Cash -
you could tell by looking at him
& listening to him
that the thing had been bought & paid for
before he reached for an instrument
or sang the first word -
Doll, you may have found a place of rest but I'm still on the trail.

Within the square
They were or were not...... Beat
Bedraggled
Bedridden
Beknownsters
Becoming
Brighter
Than all the Saganic billions
More than zillions
Never more than mystery
Dreamt of philosophies
Palpable profundities
Paneled classrooms full of peculiar peckerwa-rries
Pinched & passed they floated past triton
Skipping rocks in her methane seas
Much mimicry mimed mutilated miners mink stolens
Everything coated in a fluorescent orange halo
OSHA approved

the way I feel about you and mark james
punctuation delayed
in the progress of jam
and everyday the earth moves farther away from the sun
and some people say there is no such thing as progress

scratch the surface of what I know about Buddhism and suffering
and you would cut right through it to the other side
I'm shallow, not a hollow man but a shallow man
even so it comforts me
I listen to that johnny cash song over and over and over today
somehow it is okay
somehow which has something to do with Buddhism but I can't say
Suffering makes sense as much as not suffering
joy and sorrow
is that nihilism
I wish I knew
what's new

all new
right now
but I am still caught up in the past
while the children live in the next world

okay it is okay
I am climbing Buddha's ladder
every step takes me closer to
to what it is
just a jam
hard to explain how jam is like driving a forty ton truck into new york city with the skyline in the morning light after driving straight through from California, hanging onto your seat cushion with both cheeks and trying to make sense of what is coming at your sleep deprived exhausted eyes as something is driving that truck while you are just hanging on with Feats Don't Fail Now blaring in your ears as you try to keep from falling out
losing consciousness and making a big mess

in 1974 that rolling stone article on cash 8)
when all the truckers were listening to smokey and the bandit
that song out among the stars never had a chance they say
