long day up the road
on the road
change into my sweats
sit down for a fix of S8
and low and behold I'm jammin'
to snarky puupy...perfecto sasha
thanx for the jar-o-jam
jazz funk fusion...was digging
the Jambone
feasting on my ears
the pure joy, the horns
gotta dig into the puppy
so I'm groovin' after this long drive
reading the comments
for snark puppy jmanbone
and my eyes catch this one from 3 years ago
" I just got a jamboner"
a tedious day falls away....you're the man sasha
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

the Jambone
I'd never heard of The Pups until my bro introduced them to me 2-3 yrs ago. We were listening to them on our way to one of the many funerals we attended in 2015. The guitar shredding in "Jambone" made me think of Al Dimeola, & I heard Chick Corea's influence on the synth players. "Quartermaster" is a fun romp - very Dixielandish, generously seasoned with Gospel. Can't listen to it without smilin' & rockin'...  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i1cskIan5Jw

cleaning day
breakfast dishes put away
running vinegar through the coffeemaker
2nd load of laundry spinning
and the 3rd ready to go
then a run to the laundromat dryers
some people hate the laundromat
no biggie to me...
every coupla weeks
I'll spend a few quarters
and an hour's time
cocooned in white noise
with the latest Discover magazine
or an old used book
of spook stories
tomorrow I'll look in on Mom
bring the dog
and a DVD -
she seems to love Mission Impossible
even if she can't follow the plots
so I pause the vids
to explain them

running errand saturday
left the house early to get it all done
with the promise to my self
to then indulge in a large medium roast
and a breakfast sandwich
was debating where to go
dunkin donuts coming up
good coffee, but opted to drive
a little further to Zekes to support
my local independent businesses
so I place my order and I'm waiting
and this woman walks up to me
slowly lowers her sunglasses
and speaks my full name which set off
my mind spinning through all the files
as I accessed the possibilities and when
i had taken too long, she said Robin
and I was stunned and leaned forward
involuntarily to hug her, a flame
that had gone low 29 years ago, and
well she did look different, but then again
she did pick me out of the lineup, and I
had thought about her many times here and there
over the years, and we ended things amicably
and shortly there after she left for san fran
and here she was and she was in a hurry
so we agreed to have coffee next week
and fill in the gaps
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

a beautiful woman
smiles from the front page
of the local paper...
so I read the caption
to see who it is...
toni e...
prettiest girl in the class of '68
now 68 herself...
she's no longer pretty
but fully ripened
into beauty...
flowers are pretty
young girls are pretty
youth itself is pretty
but beauty must be built
year by year
in homely oaken casks...
I never had much to do with her
one does not approach a goddess
unless one can dribble a basketball
or runs track
or knows what downs are in football
instead one averts one's eyes
and thinks only chaste thoughts
and keeps to oneself

Old loves
Sacred loves
Years flying by
Fact of life
Coffee shops
Newspapers
Can't escape it
Small world
Mass confusion
Kinda like it that way
Nervous laughter
But is it?
The game goes on
Into the 7th inning
Relievers are in now
Old love
Can you go back
Never tried

eldest son lost his beloved beagle
old age...what a sweet spirit he was
"Cash"....named after Johnny
that dog could find a single french fry
in a 3 acre field field of clover
got along with all dogs.....and people
and when i think of all the nonsense
that comes from humans I think
give me a dog....forget all that other shit
the whining and bickering....let's go
for a walk....let's take off the leash
and romp through the high grass
dive into the stream...goodbye old Cash
I'm get a little teary here
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

maybe Cash & Wyatt will find each other
and maybe something choice
to roll in...
buried more than a few pups myself
Heidi the boxer
Kelly the shepherd (MIA)
Molly & Penny the Irish
Brandy the black lab
doesn't get easier with practice
RIP, old girls...
as my dad used to say
it's an awfully small knot hole to be pulled through...
anyone who says dogs don't have souls
that only god-worshipping humans do
either never knew a dog
or has a pretty low opinion
of souls
I'd offer you my hankie
but I'm using it myself......

Wireman,
Ain't got no jam of my own, but that don't mean I ain't got a jam. Got a vid found in the outlands of YouTube. I don't know who put this together but they hit not only every button I had but also buttons I didn't know I had. For a few powerful minutes you are going to be sitting in the midst of a Mongolian spirit even as you sit in the midst of Maryland - Hope you enjoy -

Doll, you may have found a place of rest but I'm still on the trail.

day off today
from eldercare and
I'm gonna try to do it all
paint, play, hike,write
but no cleaning, that can
wait a while and then some
'cause today's about the life jam
makin' the blood flow
flowin' down that stream in the mind
mindin' my own business, but not
business as usual,...rather unusual
and settling into nothing will do just fine
bills can wait....laundry can pile up
even the crumbs from the toast
gotta give the ants a little jam
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading
