More than the wind
Change inevitable
Knock ya off yur being
The rolls with the punches
Little by little I inch ahead
Not a thing that's pushing
No, more of a constant
How the hell are you Steve?
I've been enjoying your colorful
walks in the wilds of Baltimore
& beyond, even Gambrills
I myself am slowly but surely
getting my sea legs back
It's a steady progression
Hell walkings just about my
favorite endeavor
It's good to be back at it..... 8)

lively & warmful reds among the yellows & greens:
a bridge calls somehow to movement.
Here, flower time!: shades of white in tilos & jazmines
brilliant lavandas in jacarandáes & paraísos
& the ceibos´s blood
again

(Wireman! so good to know you are doing fine...! :D )

(rock on, steve & mark)

mister the dog
seems to be coming around
getting the hang of things
learning the ropes
catching on
or is it me
doing the catching?
maybe both
when we hike the trails
and he's off leash
he knows he can run
and I'm coming to know
that he'll come back
whether I holler or not
(as long as the treats hold out)
oh I hope so
that maybe someday
soon perhaps
I can hike with him
and the camera
at the same time

got to get to Fred Rock
check on the wireman
gotta get out to the woods
as much as is humanly possible
need the sanctuary of the tree
the aisles of fallen leaves
to lead me down a path of enlightenment
innuendos in the fall air
voices in the brush, the forest speaks
in many tongues, be patient
you will decipher the wisdom
of moss and fern like an old lover's voice
beyond the ho hum of concrete
beyond the bustling SUV's
beyond the asphalt jungle and gutter trash
there is peace of mind
there is a man with two legs on the path
and Mister with four, man and dog
are in harmony, a six legged seeker
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

splitting & hauling firewood
brings on a pleasant fatigue
i fall asleep sitting up
on the couch
wake up wondering who I might be now
I see you're still in Fred Rock
work on it work on it
Doll, you may have found a place of rest but I'm still on the trail.

feelin' a little beat up
head poundin' but I know it
is temporary so I won't feel sorry
for time lost as I try to function
the woods is best medicine, better
than any big pharma concoction
better than any vitamin or mineral
it' magic all right, maybe the coffee
will help get me going enough to grab
the boots, lace them up, maybe
the oatmeal will spark a little drive
but this is starting out with pains
in the head, knees....you know
one of those days...the daze just
makes you work a little harder
clear the cobwebs and invasive species
get your motor running, get out
on that highway....born to be wild
I'm a true nature's son
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

Soundgarden
Above the din
A missed FG
Nobody paying attention
Bar packed
Saturday in DTF
"One more time around"
Guess you had to be there
Something tells me the
home teams gonna win
Happy hours 3-5pm.

It's been a most relaxing afternoon

hiking thru double rock
cloudy gray day in the woods
at first the gray distance
looked like sky until
the distinct smell of burning wood
hit my nostrils and the sky
turned into smoke
and there was fifty foot circle fully ablaze
I dialed 911 as I pulled the dry leaves
away from the edge of the ring
with my other free hand
it was super difficult to guide
the fire department to the site
as they knew nothing of
blazed yellow trails or where to park
the operator kept asking me
what street I was on, or what street
did you park on... I would answer
I parked a mile away, that won't help
they need to as close to the south
side of the park as they can...then
I remembered there was a cemetery
on that side and told the her to send
the firetruck there and I would hike back
to meet them....they needed to call for
a trailer with a big tank of water
and a pump that would be pulled in
by an ATV....by then I had cut the fire
off and just the sticks and logs and vines
were afire and the fire was contained
but it was windy and any spark could
be disaster ......it all worked out in the end

I was wondering about whether someone
carelessly dropped a cigarette when I
noticed a thick rectangle of charred pages
someone had obviously lit a phone book on fire
and tossed it....this section of trail is always trash free
when the word arson touched my mind
it freaked me out.....the entire forest could
have burned up if someone hadn't been
in the right place at the right time
and I really wondered if I was guided there

dear steve,
wish you'd come hiking in Israel
200 cases of fires in two major forests
more than half proven to be arson
found rags and gasoline
aerial view of those holding more
took a small UN of nations
with water-laden planes
to come to the rescue

i'm writing with line-breaks
can't get my breath
500 apartments burnt
homeless in a night
desert dwellers all safe
you never know when you need a hero

thank you steve
for those you saved

wham! bam!
perpetual jam
out of the jar
sit at the bar
have a drink
say what you think
life's in the pink
death's in the sink
roller rink roller rink
spin them out of synch
watch them jiggle
moonlight wiggle
the time's gettin close
get down to the roast
the pig's squalor squeels
birdland on wheels
touch the glass ceiling
send you into Wheeling
where the dancers skip
and the band just drips
looking for the touch
aint askin too much
but slam that jam
all over the spam

bam! bam! thumb in the damn
leaks forcing power on Uncle Sam

Bam-a-lam!!!
What we yell, when the rebar falls
Them was the daze
Like it was some kinda
Purple haze
Scuse me while I kiss the sky
You know why
Down to the marrow
Like the sparrows
That fly on high
Till the day you die
Ain't no reason to ask (Why?) 8)
